I have a 2002 (52-plate) Vespa PX-125 with only 5400km on the clock. I love it but only ride it in good weather, otherwise it is garaged. I have a problem with the scooter struggling beyond 50km/h but then it "coughs" and suddenly it is great and runs fine. I am not very technical, and certainly not mechanically minded, so would appreciate any suggestions about the possible cause.

Hi and welcome. Have you been over 50mph on it, or have you been riding "sensibly". To me, it sounds like it could need a de coke, and a dam good thrashing....

Welcome friend 😊 As Ironsloth says .... sounds like she needs a good run and decoke of exhaust would certainly do no harm at all 🛵

Hi all - thank you for the welcome, and suggestions. Is de-coking easy to do or is it a garage task?

Recently decoked a Px125e and had great results using this method, fairly simple task .
Remove exhaust - only 2 nuts and plug one end of it - a potato works well !! Fill exhaust with water & add caustic soda - leave overnight then empty and run a hose through it until water runs clear.
Jobs a good un !
