good news , nearly finished now then , disc could be a trapped stone in pads ,no copper grease on rear off pads or a slight warp ,been meaning to message you an ask if youve any clues for barrel machining in the south east area . H

I think/hope its just the pads are knackered. I'll get some new ones and see how it goes.
For the top any machine shop that does car engines will be able to help. A reputable one near you is automotivemachineservices.co.uk/ If you need the base gasket doing then that is more difficult as it needs to be held on a lathe by a jig or a mandrel.

its the base gasket i need , will check out the firm you mentioned ,if not able too do job they should have a clue to who can , an dont do what i always do , throw new pads in go for a run an wonder where my brakes gone first time i use it ,nearly crunched a few bikes/scoots doing that .H

New Piaggio gear selector - Old one was a bit wobbly. I thought it would be ok when I changed the crux but it jumped second a couple of times and that was a couple of times too many!
Halogen bulb - same type as above. Will see if this one lasts any longer.
Choke mechanisim off the 24/24 - The new one in the 26/26 was sticking and wouldn't come off sometimes. Can be very embarrasing in the town centre after it had warmed up.
Gear cable inners and outers - The old ones had been touching the exhaust for years by the looks of them. Stupidly connected the cables the wrong way round and had to do them again, we all make mistakes no matter how many times you done it before!
Edit : Disc pads - Changed these a few weeks ago. They were just touching metal on the edge. Working perfect with no noise now.

i mixed up cables once like that , actually preferred the action that way ,but ended up switching back as it was too confusing when riding other scoots .H

My PX200 Tourer is nearly running fine now. Up to 400 miles and I am really thrashing it now. Not prolonged WOT but full open. It went off the clock today so over 75mph on the speedo. Plenty quick enough. Cruises at 60mph on the clock with very little throttle, perfect.

Well that was short lived glory! Checked the gearbox oil about a month ago and topped it up. Checked it yesterday and it needed 60ml to dribble out. Done only 200 miles on it since then. It was a well used scooter by the last owner, so I guess just worn out. I didnt take the crank out when I did the gearbox. Wish I had now. I want to tune the inlet to the same as Sime's anyway. I was thinking I might do this in the Winter if I get time but now I must

Oh dear. I've just re-read it from beginning though; you were always intending to split it twice anyway, and think positive, better sort it now - ready for the Summer.
Edited highlights............. 11th April: “Will split it again at the end of Summer to do the primary, change the seals and bearings to do a proper job.” 18th May: “Leaving the crank inlet as standard for now until it is fully overhauled in the Winter.” 21st July: “Engine mounts are a bit wobbly, so over 70mph on the speedo is enough for me, until they are changed!”
There's your list, might as well get it all sorted now then – that won't take you long...........
The end of Summer quickly moved onto over the Winter didn't it? Splitting it again was always the plan and inevitable. I have a set of engine mounts already, need to start collecting the rest of the parts. All I really meant was the option to leave it a while is not there anymore.

Time does seem to run away these days, and you never said which Summer/Winter!
I'd be interested to know your views on decent engine mounts - I need to tackle mine, but was unsure if the polyurethane ones were needed and worth the expense; and to be honest, it looks like a job I'll wish I hadn't started when half-way through, so decided to delay the decision. The old engine definitely need doing before using again though.
ah well, at least ya got 200 miles out of it ,will give you something to play with over xmas , you werent going to be "touring" now anyway .not know natures flicked a switch n summer went autumn then winter almost overnight . H

It will soon be new year and I still haven't sorted this clutch side oil seal. Going to get some parts ordered, so they are sitting there looking at me for after Christmas. I'll take the engine out and do it indoors to make it a bit easier on my aging body.
Main items on the parts list so far; Flywheel oil seal clutch k nut Rear brake shoes (original) Rear wheel inner oil seal rear bearing dust cover Original Gasket set Full PX200 engine Bearing set main oil seal - brown uprated cush drive repair kit
I really don't intend doing this engine again for at least 10,000 mile if I can help it, so going to do it all this time, although the tight wad in me still hasn't finally decided on the bearings, as they are all sort of ok and I am reluctant to change them until they are really worn but don't want to take it apart just for a bearing before the 10,000 miles or more. I am going to end up doing them I think.
Will tune the crank inlet to open 125/55 degrees and that should do it for speed. The with the new gearbox and selector already in there it really could be a few years of trouble free cruising around

Engine is out of the tourer. never has one been such a dirty job!
I have all the bits, including a full set of orignal bearings and seals (all brown).
I have done the strip down and 1st go at clean up. Apart from the dirt the engine is in amazing condition. I think this has had a total re-furb before but not sure when. The back wheel bearings are SKF and like new, so won't bother changing them. All the others will be done though.
Going to get the Dremel in the inlet next. Bit of a shame as the valve sealing pad is in like new condition. Rarely do you see one in such good condition with so many miles. Anyway if they made it with enough inlet duration degrees then I wouldn't need to touch it
Edit; Put new standard engine mount rubbers in today as well. Was a bit extra wobbly at speed. Very difficult to tell the condition from just looking at them.

It'll soon be back together, and all done and dusted this time. Hope you show us your inlet before you put it all back together; do you need to cut the crank too? 125/55 still intended? I noted your engine mounts edit – I'm going to do mine on Old Faithful first..... (unless there's any unexpected engine-out incidents on The Beast before then).
125/55 is the way to go. I'll need to grind a bit of the crank to get it there. Hopefully it will be back in by Monday. Not doing any more porting on the barrel but should need up jetting for the new inlet duration.
200 engine mounts do not move without lube but once oiled up they just pop out. Little bit more difficult on a 150 but still ok.

Done the inlet and smoothed out the carb box and carb. The standard 200 is normally 57 degrees ATDC so left that alone but mine is measuring 58 degrees anyway. The BTDC was 107 degrees and was 125 but was not straight, so came out to 126 degrees after fiddling with it. So thats 126/58. I hate doing those inlets, so little metal to play with, one mistake and the casing is ruined.
Got the engine washed out and half assembled as well. Will get the engine all back in one piece tomorrow. The frame needs a new cluch cable before the engine goes back in.

Ready to go back in! Did the new clutch cable already, so will fit the engine tomorrow
Notice the gasket sealer on the barrel base! Hate doing that but had to do it. Pressure test was leaking like a sieve with just the standard base gasket. Pressure was holding ok with the sealer. Is good for 150 Degrees C so hopefully will hold for a while

I was meaning it will survive the 150 degrees of the barrel. Engine going in this morning. Will take it for a ride this afternoon. I think its going to pull even harder now. Should be about the same speed as yours top end but is doing it while pulling harder, as it has the 23/65 primary. And should still do the same two up!

Well it does exactly what I hoped. Pulls really hard, even stronger than before and more zippy round town. Needs to be re jetted though as its still running way too hot and now has a 140 MJ. Took it for short run down the motorway with the weak jet being careful and its going to be a touring animal, really strong in 4th gear!

184 degs inlet , not to shabby eh, an pullin hard in 4th ,nice . ive had a few push in main jets from the guy i linked to sime ,KMT products, £2.50 an free postage , excellent quality an quick dispatch , an all sizes available . H

For touring its where the 184 degrees starts thats important. Barrel only has 171 degrees of exhaust so loads of torque left in there.
I should be able to jet it in with what I have. I'll give it a try tomorrow. Going to have a re-check on the carb drilling, I think it was only 1.8mm and that will be the issue if it is.

Well that didnt quite go to plan. The carb jet way was 1.8mm, drilled it out (carefully by hand) to 2.0mm. Jetting still slightly to weak with the 140 though. I cant find my SI jets bigger than 140. I tried my drilled 165, found that but splutters way to much to ride. Will have to buy some more.
One thing that has happened is the progression has gone spluttery since the inlet tuning and its running a 55/160. Mixture screw is 1.5 turns out now and should be more so, going to need to buy some smaller pilot jets too! Probably 48/xxx to get another turn on the mixture screw.
At least is a step forward, it's all in once piece, ridable and going to be great!

If I've got any MJs or pilots you could use quickly to keep it moving, I can post them 1st class first thing in the morning if you PM or email your address. All the Pilots on my table on my build thread, and I've got lots of loose jets above 140 and an unused BGM 140-162 set too. I've missed tonight's post, so you can probably get them just as quickly yourself, but if it helps...........?
Thanks Sime, kind offer but I already ordered what I think I will need. Don't have time to play with it anymore as I am away on business from today. Could be a few weeks or more with the weather, before the next session. Will be ready long before Spring anyway!

Very small disaster today after some nice success. Was fiddling with the jetting on the Tourer and its now much better, not perfect but better. Then it was going so well I took it for a longer ride and was getting a bit cokky on it until I slid off it pulling out of a junction! Front wheel just went sideways and I was down like a sack of spuds. Haven't fell off for years and my big body is a bit old for all that. Will be limping for a few days for sure, scooter fell on my ankle. Saved the legshield from touching the road, so not all bad has florida bars so no real damage at all, just a big scuff on the already knackered mudguard. Will have a good look at it tomorrow, hopefully nothing I havent seen.
