My T5 is a mk1 1988 model..
Should it have any other instruments apart from the speedo?
It has had the complete headset changed at some point in its life, this is obvious as it is a different colour to the rest of the scooter.
All I have is a round speedo and a green and amber warning light, neither of those work either.
As I have a fuel sender unit it would be nice to have a fuel gauge or at least a warning light.

As the headset top if quite badly damaged, as is the speedo, I will be looking to replace them as part of my current revamp, so what model headset top would I need to buy to give me a fuel gauge but also fit my headset bottom?

Any suggestions?

Does it have a round light Gaz? if so it's probably a PX headset. believe T5 Mk1 with the square light and fairing would have had a speedo, rev counter, fuel gauge, amber fuel light, blue hi beam light and green lights on err light..

GRR I thought so, yes I have a round light, and I have just cross referenced all my wiring with my Haynes manual wiring diagrams and I do indeed have the wiring for all the extras you mentioned.
I just have a plain speedo at present, thats got to change.

Do you think this would be any good? Maybe even as a temporary measure until I can get my hands on a set of proper T5 headset bits.



I know it LML but it has all the dials I want and will probably be fairly cheap.

as a temp fix but your wiring loom wont be correct jusdging by the rest of ure stripped down scoot that i commented on

I bought the LML top, will do me for a while, got it for £8 off ebay, bargain, if it fits

Identical to the later PX one apart from the clock face, I've seen T5 Mk1 headsets come up on Fleabay before, so worth keeping an eye open there

Will do, I would like the whole rectangular light, kit and caboodle, so if anyone spots a set for sale please let me know.

Meanwhile the LML one will do.

Got the LML top and it looks great, its going to take some major wiring if I want to get everything working, but it will be worth it.
If only to get a fuel gauge.

I spotted lots of separate T5 headset pieces on ebay yesterday, but not a complete set.
