Insuring an imprted scooter

I'm thinking of getting a scooter first registered in 2006 but actually built in 1971. Trouble is when i go on insurance websites they ask for the year of registration and not manufacture, this means it filters all the scooters for say 2006 and i can't select a 1971 model.
I already use my no claims on my main bike, so wondering if its probably best to go for a classic insurance where you dont get no claims but you dont earn it either.

any recommendations of which company to go for?

Well I use Carol Nash, but I would actually get on the phone and speak with a few companies direct to get a opinion. The websites only seem to cover the 'normal' option range of issues not the ones thrown up by these registration anomalies.

Where are you importing it from?

I may have a solution depending on where from.

its already here and built supposedly from italy so the serial numbers say. Registered as 1970 scooter
