oo time to cause controversy and consternation in the thread!!! (ha ha only joking). the reason I bought an LML (which i refer to as an LML Vespa because most people I speak to can't get their head round the fact it's not a 'true' Vespa, but more of that later) new in December because it was £1800 otr. Simples! i'm back on the road, after a 15 year gap (after my P2 had an argument with the back of a lorry) and loving it just as much as ever. The badges are all LML and are staying put - it is what it is at the end of the day, I MAY add a Vespa badge to show it's heritage, but as of yet I'm undecided. Only one person I've spoken to has taken the p*ss ('at least mine's Italian'), and i won't be rebadging 'cos of it (he may be redenturing if he continues though). As far as calling it an LML Vespa is concerned, it is no different to 30 years ago calling a Serveta a Lambretta - it wasn't a Lambretta it was licence built but easier to refer to them as such. Lastly 1 in 10 of the last P -range Vespas were built for Piaggio by LML and badged by them as Vespas!!!!! lol I don't want this reply to sound stroppy or annoyed (it's neither), it's simply answering the question from an LML owner's point of view :-) PS when I bought it i contacted the VCB to see if i could join and the answer was yes as it's a club for Vespas and licence built derivatives!!!
