I,m here it is quiet though , my work computer wont allow me to access forums and my home laptop is always in my daughters mits bloody facebook , We need to start some daft debates to get things going again and to keep the moderaters on thier toes So here goes Paul Weller looks like Wurzell Gummidge discuss Vans and caravans have no place at a scooter rally Exessive lights and mirrors on scooters look daft I dont care about new blood coming onto the scene

Crikey Mark, no one can accuse you of having splinters on your arse! ;D
Okay. Point 1, he's getting there! Point 2, backup vans only! Point 3, they can, but when done well they can also look ace. Point 4, if they don't everyone will look like Wurzel Gummidge eventually! Point 5, I concur. Point 6, £130 for 1 scoot only 3rd party, also with MCE.

Well I'm still here. A tastefully assembled rack of lights on a period accessorised series 2 lammy, I can see the attraction, but all them mirrors? Now that I just don't get. It's good to see youngsters on scooters, but I think the scene as we know it will die out with us. So what? If they want it, it will happen. Enjoy the now. I also quite like the idea of going on scooter gymkhanas with the Missus in matching pullovers when I'm 65. Music on rallies? You have to cater for the majority. The public gets what the public wants, as Worzel Gummidge once said, but it does niggle a bit that it's assumed that I like a certain type of music just because I ride a scooter. £108 F/C with breakdown cover. Ebike. Thanks mark, I feel better now.

Right thats woke a few of you up Right time for a bit of mod baiting ( tongue firmly in cheek ) Can a middle aged man be a mod nowadays when the scene he pays homage to died 40 years ago ? not very modern methinks Same goes for skins and scooterboys all hit the dressing up box at weekends reminds me a bit of the last remaining teddy boys I used to see in the sixties . Dont worry I am not immune I am 53 love northern soul and know that when I dance I no longer look cool but look like Uncle Knobhead at a wedding

well i'm here, and as for the poll
who cares what weller looks like, he's been rubbish since the jam ;D
vans etc, well i'd rather scoot there but not everyone likes camping, so if it keeps the numbers up then why not
mod scoots, hey what ever turns you on, its your scoot after all and you've gotta ride it
new blood, of course whats wrong with that
insurance, well its high at the mo cos the bugger who hit me has only just admitted liability so hopefully will go down soon, but can't remember how much

£110 two scoots with swinton.
Gimme a scoot and a tent on a rally, otherwise I'd stay at home.
Don't buy into the dressing up scenario - I just have clothes that i wear everyday - don;t own a separate scootering wardrobe THATS JUST PATHETIC IMHO.
Totally agree on the stifled music scene- but the DJ's play what people ask for.
Aren't footbal hooligans the new Modernists these days ?
PS . Hello everyone.
Agree with Lucia - loads of people do go on Facebook these days - but scooter forums are a more sociable thing to me - I still don;t really see the point of facebooking it , other than a tool for advertising yourself and your ramblings ( says me rambling on like a hypocritical t**t)
Nice post tho' Mick point taken

I'm a newbie here but I tend to check in every day - luckily my work pc allows me to access the forum 'Paul Weller looks like Worzel Gummidge' - Who's Paul Weller?? Only kidding, actually I think he looks more like the Crowman. As for vans at scooter rallies - I've never attended a scooter rally, only owned my scooter for a month now. I hope to start attending rallies at some point but, if I were to attend a rally that was more than 60 -70 miles away I'd think I'd rather do the trip there in a van with the scooter in the back. Excessive lights and mirrors on scooters- I'm somewhere on the middle ground on this one. I do think mirrors and lights can be tastefully done but that too many mirrors can look daft and in the cases where they effectively double (or more) the width of the scooter then they can become a hazard. What is it like for other road users following a heavily mirrored scoot at night? I would imagine there would be a risk of being dazzled? New blood? I suppose I could be considered new blood. I'm new to scootering, although I ain't exactly young. Ray

Yes, I believe our attendance has suffered thanks to Facebook. There are now so many groups on there dedicated to scootering in general, Vespa, Lambretta, Mod & Skin lifestyle etc, that many people are conducting all their business there. Also, it's always a bit quieter on here during the summer months when people get their scootering fix by actually going to rallies. Mark, I refer you to Article 3 of the vespa.org.uk forum policy: vespa.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=announcements&action=display&thread=991

At the Garden of England rally had a Rave tent and a comedian on on Saturday afternoon, went down blinding. I thought all the geezers that called themselves Mods, had now lost their hair and were telling everyone that they ''Have always been a Skinhead'', think that we all do tend to dress in vaguely the same way, listen to a variety of music that we all like, and Paul Weller does look like the crow man but we're still talking about him. The new blood that I know are all skinny jeans and lamps on scooters, blings for the young more power to them!

well ok then, mirrors are for the bathroom, dont think i have a catagory in the scoot scene, i have a skinhead(not by choice at my age) love rock music, metalica etc, yes i have a scoot wardrobe as id look a t@t goin to the pub in protective boots etc, love speed hence the played with px210, but some rallies leave you feeling like a lepper if your not an old fart mod or wernt there 20 or 40 years ago! had my scoot 2 years(midlife crisis) love it and thrash it and no spence, i wont go and buy a motorbike as you once said to me!

Hello everybody, it's the Zepp back again!
My problem is that Mrs Zepp has discovered some pesky 'Facebook' style site based on a farm (No, really!) and I can't get near the computer anymore.
We had a visit from Spence recently, and I am pleased to say he is in rude health. We had a good night on the patio post-BBQ with more than a few beers and some good sounds. Fortunately, the neighbours were away.
Has anybody seen the new Sugababes video? Phew!

I have managed to wrestle the laptop off my daughter and took it to work with me , now how do I get onto facebook and destroy her farm . that,ll teach her Most forums are very quiet nowadays due to facebook , we need to be useing the forums like this one more they are a great source of information and no daft login required just to have a look . A lot of time and effort goes into these forums by the mods and it would be a great shame to lose these resources . Facebook exists to make money . Support your local forum

Very soon we'll have a FACEBOOK cyber rally where you can sit and listen to what you want.... no moaning about the shi*e the DJs were playing. You can drink what's in the fridge......... so no moaning about bar prices, and best of all you don't actually have to go anywhere, surely a cyber scooterist's dream!

Joey I knew we could rely on you to make a valuable contribution. I reckon there's now more scooter clubs on Facebook than there are in the UK, bearing in mind just about every UK scooter club's got its own page, plus all the Facebook Scooter Club, Facebook Scooter Collective, Facebook Vespa/Lambretta/Maicoletta/Triumph Tina/insert your scooter here Owner's Clubs pages. The trouble with Facebook is, it suddenly made it easy for any swinging dick to create a "website" to their cause, just with a few clicks of a mouse. Vespa.org.uk has taken years of building, researching, going to rallies, taking photos, handing out flyers and business cards, going to gigs and general networking. If every Tom, Dick and Harry that starts up yet another scooter club page on Facebook knew how much work me and Lu have put into this site over the last 5 years they'd probably puke. That's why it means so much to me that we still have loyal members like all you guys.

I agree Spence. Also, Sites and forums like this are far more personal: where it's not how many "members/friends" one has, but the content and valuable information shared by those who are knowledgable in various topics. I think little thanks is ever given to creators/administrators like you and Lu; so here's a BIG THANK YOU to you both for a fab website and forum which i enjoy visiting every day, even if don't have anything worthwhile posting.

I know quite a few people that have got hacked off with FB and jacked it in all together, what with its constant rejigging, moving of goalposts, spamming and security concerns.
Who knows, maybe the novelty will wear off. It did with Friends Reunited. Remember that?
