Thanks to Spence and/or Lucia for trying to drum up support for the Jeff Buckley version (on the home page). It was a valiant effort but it would seem that the omnipotent Simon Cowell got his way after all, with Jeff Buckley at No.2 and some karaoke version at No.1.
The public gets what the public wants.
(I bet Leonard Cohen is, erm, laughing though.)

At least the x factor version was brought by people that liked the song and not just people buying the other versions for spite

I read somewhere that this song is about a bloke achieving sexual gratification after a long time without. Typical Leonard Cohen. He couldn't even write a happy song about getting his rocks off! Perhaps Simon Cowell was fantasising about Alexandra when he picked the song?

At least the x factor version was brought by people that liked the song and not just people buying the other versions for spite I think the mindless sheep "bought", rather than "brought", this record, because they'd never heard the song until it was spoon-fed to them by the corrupt, mindless drivel that is The X-Factor.

Don't know if this is true or not but i heard that simon cowell wins no matter which version got to no.1 anyway coz he apparently owns the rights to all the versions of the song, so at the moment, he must be rubbing his hands with glee!
