Very very sad that you've had this experience with your first scooter. We all know that they are not the most reliable mode of transport at times but this is still just not acceptable. I would definitely contact Piaggio, what harm can it do? You do need to get some guarantees that this will not continue to happen. What happens once the warranty has run out? Good luck with it though.

Thanks for that Ironsloth, I might give it a go, its not too far from me. Will see how weather is. Don't really need much just a couple of bits I want to replace, handlebar headset, chrome mudguard strip, maybe front mudguard as mine is looking a bit tired. I could buy new but thought jumble might be worth a look.

Hi all I am contemplating going to the Kempton Park auto jumble and wondered if anybody had bothered before. I question whether there will be much scooter stuff there but I need a couple of bits n pieces that people have told me to get at autojumbles rather than paying out for new.
That's it really, any thoughts? It's an afternoon away from the missus and kids so it can't be all bad ;-)

Despite the Silkolene name, I think it smells like fetid sh*t siphoned through an old tramps sock, mixed with rotten eat meat from the local curry house.... I hate curry.... I do hate it when the git in front uses Silkolene, but you can't deny the stuff is good.... Think I'd rather sh*t in my hands and clap than sniff that stuff through a scoot exhaust again.... Bugger!! And there was me thinking there might be a market for Silkolene after-shave ;-)

Hi there, I started a thread called 'alternative oil' as I am using fully synth Silkolene and was advised that Rock Oil was better. After a huge amount of study I've stuck with the Silkolene purely because there is absolutely no reason to change as far as I can see. I would see what it's been run on until now and if that is ok then no point changing. Up to you though. Good luck with it.

Today I have been mostly trying to persuade my missus that a set of florida bars is a better buy than a set of saucepans from John Lewis. I know one thing, the bars will last longer but I could be having cold meals for a while.

Ok thanks guys. I guess I will just leave as is. I suppose the general opinion is fully synthetic is too good but that's what I am currently running with the Silkolene so will stick with that. Rather that than go 'backwards' to semi synthetic. I am happy to pay for the fully synth so as long as it stands I'll stay with it. Huge thanks for the advice/opinion. I am genuinely glad I asked and didn't just go for 'what a fella in the pub' reckoned.

That would be relevant if you were using a mineral oil and changing to a semi or fully synthetic 2 stroke, but the silkolene is already a semi or fully synth and a decent brand, personally I'd not waste my money buying anything more expensive, oil is oil reagardles of the brand on the tin, all made to the same industry standards, I'd just avoid budget brands you've never heard of. Yes, the Silkolene is fully synthetic Bryno. Good point well made. I would never use a cheap budget brand. As I say, I mentioned about changing oil and a couple said rock oil was best. Point is, how can it be better than the decent one I've already got? I think you've made my mind up for me, leave as is.

Kipper, why are you thinking about changing oil? Mate. I am planning to do an oil change and in conversation was told that Rock Oil was 'the bo**ocks' and although a little expensive was worth the extra. I do also think that there is a little "cos it smells nice" factor in with that comment too though.

I am sure this must have been asked before but I cannot find anything so firstly my apologies if you've already answered this... my PX125 is currently running with Silkolene, Classic 2 Stroke, Synthetic, Low Smoke engine oil. 2T and yes I did just read that straight form the bottle. I want to change to Rock Oil or something similar but have been given some differing opinions. Anyway given most of the people that seem to want to tell me their opinions are nowhere near as knowledgeable as the people on here, I thought I would put it out there. Is Rock Oil as good as I am lead to believe or is there something better? Many thanks guys n girls

My hat is lifted to you sir. There aren't many that would go through that and still jump on the Vespa and do it all over again. I'd have been sat in my garage cursing for hours. Well done mate, true dedication.

For the first time since having a complete new clutch fitted (thanks Atoms scooters) I spent about 4 hours on the road yesterday. I got the scooter 6 weeks ago but had loads of issues so eventually a whole new clutch later and all is good (fingers crossed), so I earned my brownie points by doing a bbq and washing and tidying up which left me time for a real ride out for the first time. I absolutely loved it, all on my own, the smell of two-stroke, flies in me teeth etc etc. Great day ;-)

Thanks for your time and opinions fellas, much appreciated. scooterg, I think you're safe, the ride from Maidstone, Kent to Glasgow might be a tad too far to pick you up.
I just know how snobby some scooterists can be, I had a mate that wanted to join a Lammy club and they said no because he didn't have the standard seat!! wtf?
That's it then, my scoot, my rules. Thanks again guys.

Firstly a thanks to all you guys (and gals) on here for your excellent advice on all sections of the forum, I have learnt so much already. The question I have is more a matter of opinions but here goes........ I have a 2001 PX125 and while most of it is standard I do have a back-rest/spare tyre rack but my question is, I like the look of Florida Bars/footrest but have been put off by a number if comments that it will look cr@p, it's not worth it on a 'newish' scooter and they should only be fitted on 'done-up' older scoots etc etc etc. What's your thoughts? The scooter is the one in my profile pic by the way.
