Hi It was a Fa italia hub and the previous owner had only used one washer so the nut had come loose and the hub had worn out fins

HI the rear hub has a bit more play than first thought, but I couldn't tighten or loosen so Ive sprayed it with penetrating spray and I will try again tomorrow i did start it up and the the driveshaft was turning, so either needs nipping up or its the hub or drive shaft? I'm also not sure if it one of the Fa italia hubs

Shanesmith, not sure if I'm understanding but I'll give it a go... try putting it in first gear, then when you have the socket fitted to the nut, give your ratchet (hope you have a good one😉 or it may break)or bar, a sharp hard hit, in the hope you break the nuts grip enough to undo it by hand. Once you get the nut off, you may find the splines on the layshaft ( the shaft the hubs bolted to) are damaged too, in that case it's an engine split to replace the layshaft. Good luck. Mij☺ Hi thanks for the reply It won't shift i have had it in gear and been at it for a couple of hour and the only thing i have removed is the skin from my hands haha

Found the issue the split pin had broken and worked its way out so it looks as though its worn away the fins on the hub as its just spinning in the hub when i put it into gear. Next question is how do i get the nut off when its spinning in the hub?

Hi Last week i found the that while riding the the clutch seamed to engage. Then yesterday at lights the gears started to not engage so i got it home ( long way to push) and there was some knocking from the rear hub while pushing it. I checked all the cables etc and the rear hub nut would not tighten (or so i thought) but it is actually tight but is spinning the axle. Sorry for my limited knowledge i have been very lucky in the years of riding that i have only had to fix the most basic of issues. Any help advise would be greatly appreciated guys Thanks in advance Shane
