Hi all Has anybody got a autolube 24g/24g carburettor lurking in their box of spares. I don't require a complete carb just the main body. Cheers

Yeah it looks doable to me. Has anyone on here done it without disastrous consequences.

Yeah, I was leaning towards that option. Was just wondering if anyone on here had run this sort of set up without adding extra oil to the fuel.

Is it possible to remove centre boss from flywheel and put in another one? I have 2 flywheels for my T5 one creates a spark the other doesn't but the one that works has knackered extractor threads, while the dud ones threads are perfect. So can I swap these with each other?

The instructions for T5 malossi 172 state the following about two stroke oil.
LUBRICANT VERSIONS WITH MIXER AND ORIGINAL CARBURETTOR Check that the separate oil pump is in perfect condition. VERSIONS WITHOUT MIXER OR WITH PHBH CARBURETTOR Use a mixture to which 3% oil has been added.
I have got a spaco 26g carb on autolube should I add 1% to the tank or is the difference between the 24g and 26g carb negligible and will be OK running it as if standard 24g

Found it after a bit of a search on scooter centre website. A centre stand adapter plate by mrp is what I am after. Cheers

I did think about that but it looks like about 40mm I would have to move stand. I was wondering if anybody had rigged up a bracket or the like.

I have got a serie pro taffspeed replica exhaust for my T5 classic, but when I tried to fit it the centre stand is in the way. Do I have to ditch my centre stand and get a side stand? Is there a way around this problem as I would prefer to keep my centre stand. Cheers

I run the following T5 malossi 172 with a si 26/26g carburettor, 125 main, bgm big box, pinasco race crankshaft, 21 tooth clutch and kytronic ignition smart booster set at 24 btdc on curve 1.
It accelerates in 1st 2nd and 3rd very well and has plenty of torque for the hills, but change into 4th on the flat doesn't make much difference to the speed from 3rd 60mph on GPS flat out. I expected more top end speed for that setup, should it be? If so what is holding it back. Cheers

I thought it might be the construction of the new selector box. I put the selector arm and pin from the new box into my old box and tried with that still no joy, was still the same. New and old arm are exactly the same length. So I have stripped it down and the gap at then end of the transmission is 0.5mm, so I have ordered a couple of shims to bring it back into the tolerance. I also read that the end of the selector rod should be tightened with a 17mm spanner, but the one I have is 13mm. Are the older and newer selector rods both the same length as I cannot find any info about their dimensions.

Agree with Scooterg.
Same thing happened to me thought my throttle cable had snapped.
Whipped of carb cover and the small rod coming out the carb had popped out of linkage. I. managed to bend the little hook bit and put back into the linkage and all was good.

I think I was doing it correctly.
My procedure was, selector arm in 4th position. Selector rod pulled all the way out. Put the wee swivelling thingy in the end of the rod and box on to studs. Then turned back wheel to pull on selector box.

Tried screwing the selector rod in, it did turn but only very slightly, still no joy.
No damage to the end.
Looks like a strip down is on the cards then.

Cruciform was replaced 270 miles ago.
Cables aren't connected, I was just checking it was going to select the gears before I connected them. I've got the back wheel off the deck and turning the wheel and the batwing by hand. Was going to stick it neutral and connect cables, but when it's in neutral the roller on the selector arm is sitting on top of a peak rather than in irs indentation.

Hello
I'm having an issue with my gear selector on my T5.
The issue is when in third and changing into fourth under acceleration, it would pop out of gear and make you look like a right dick.
I took off selector box and removed the selector arm,the holes at the end were enlarged and the pin was worn, so I ordered a new selector box.
This is where I thought my problem would be solved but it gets worse, put on new box and now the wee roller does not rest in the indents when it is neutral, first or fourth gear.
I've had it on and off even put my old one back on to see if I was doing it correctly, the roller went in to all the correct indentations still with the old box.
So I then stripped new arm and pin off and stuck them in my old selector box, still had my issue with roller not resting in indents when in gear.
Could the problem be the gears may be out of tolerance and require shimming because there was a lot of movement in the old selector arm. Cheers

Hi I am looking for some advice on where to start with the jetting for a T5 malossi 172 with a si 26/26g carburettor also with bgm big box exhaust. Or is there any online pages with set ups.
Cheers

I used 3 set's of feeler gauges, put piston in the cylinder and using the 3 gauges measured around the top and bottom of the piston and it seems to be a pretty consistent 0.05mm gap. In the Haynes manual bore clearance is 0.04mm. So not that far away.

I was under the impression that these cylinders cannot be rebored, cylinder seems to be fine nothing that catches a fingernail.

T5 malossi 172, stripped it down and noticed at the bottom of the piston skirt there was a crack. Could this have been caused by a previous seize as the piston has heavy scoring and there where marks on cylinder wall. The crank also had heavy scoring on it. Or could the crack be caused by piston to bore clearance, if so what should this be and is it just measured with feeler gauge around the top and bottom. I have took some fine wet and dry to cylinder walls and it seems to have cleaned up pretty well.
The cylinder kit is 21 years old and grade 0, piston is a grade b. I was looking at pistons and they only come in grades A B C and D, is grade 0 the same as A? So my dilemma is what piston to get as I am concerned that maybe there is to much bore clearance and that's what caused crack in piston skirt. It did sound extremely slappy, but I believe that's just how it is. Cheers

Thanks mij, that video confirmed l have a premix carb that explains why the oil was leaking out,I had it connected to autolube. I bought the scooter needing some work done to it the guy I bought it off had taken it as a trade in so didn't say anything about the non autolube carb probably didn't know. I just thought the scooter had been sitting for a while because the oil in the tank was congealed. Now awaiting delivery of a 24/24g.

T5 Carb

I was thinking my carb may be for a premix and this was causing it to leak oil as it had nowhere to go when trying to enter the carb. It looks identical to one I have in my box of junk, can't really remember, has been in the box for about 25 years but I'm sure it came off a premix.

I've recently rebuilt a autolube T5 engine and it started p*shing out two stroke oil between carb and carb box, I thought maybe the gasket was covering oil hole so I ordered new gaskets and took off carb oil hole was not covered. This is when I noticed carb was a si 24 24e. after some research I believe this is for a 200 Is this an upgrade from the T5 carb? Also how can you tell if the carb is for autolube or not?

Hello I've been poking around for a while but never done an intro. I have a T5 classic and PK50S.
I have been into scooters since I was a teenager, (now in mid forties) and owned a PX125, P150 and the PK in my teenage years.
Life got in the way and the p ranges where moved on but the pk never was because it was completely knackered, it lay in my dad's shed until about four years ago, I decided to do it up, which I have, then got the T5 a couple of years back was also in a state of disrepair. Just recently got the T5 on the road but have had an issue hence the intro.
