Hey thanks again, the bracket is that shape, but does not have pre welded bolts on it, it came with butterfly screws to go through the bars and the bracket ! Also the holes don't line up but I'll re-drill the bracket ! But it does stick out about an inch either side. It appears that the shop I bought the vespa from have fitted the regi plate differently from usual. Thanks a lot

The very man I was hoping would reply !!... Haha I've attached the footrests first but in their furthest back position yet still when I slide the crash bars into them and then try to align them at the back there seems to be no way to secure them to the bracket I was provide with !!.... I've taken off my back number plate hoping the holes from it would align with my bracket but they don't :/ If it is at all possible would you be able to post a picture on here of how yours are fastened at the back ?? Thanks

Okay, so my stainless crash bars came. Sent them back the first time because the two side were different lengths, and to be fair to TSR scooter they send out replacement bars very quickly !!
Although I need assistance or advice on how to fit them ! I've fitted the pillion footrest and slid the two side bars into the foot pegs before putting the rubbers on, but I need advice on how to bolt them at the back. The crashbars when ordered states that there was no filling required although the back be key does not seem to line up !! - both sets of crash bars I received had the same bracket supplied so I am assuming that this is the correct bracket.

Thanks guys for your speedy response I am much more at ease now, and glad I ordered the stainless bars. I am very much a fair weather rider anyway, and gave a slight touch of OCD when I comes to keeping my scooter clean etc... So I shouldn't have a problem with the water effecting the steel !! I was just concerned that I had bought cheap rubbish ax the chrome florida bars were £109, and the stailess bars were £59 (albeit in the sale) ... And as far as having chrome (or stailess steel chrome) on your scoot I feel the more the merrier !! lol. Thanks

Hi guys, I've just ordered stainless steel florida bars (chrome finish) for my vespa px from TSR (the scooter republic), although what I though I was ordering was actual chrome ones !! :/ I was wondering if any of you know anying about the differences in the finishes between chrome and stainless ? And is it anything to worry about ? Also is there any difference in weight ? As it's only a standard 125 I have and don't want to big her down Thanks

Problem solved. After a few phone calls back and forth between Piaggio and Eclipse (the shop I bought it from) Piaggio agreed that the scooter should be picked up from my home, and taken away to fixed. The uplift company was a deprecate company and sent not 1 but 2 flat bed lorries (the kind you see slugging static caravans up and down the motorway) to pick up my scooter. So besides it looking ridiculous on the lorry they took it away no problem.... Within 2 days Eclipse had phoned to say that they'd sort my scooter. The float had a small crack in it and fuel was therefore filling up inside the float causing it to sink to the bottom, and then indicating that there was no fuel in the carburettor. They simply replaced the float. Problem solved ! Eclipse also adjusted my clutch cable and changing gear is now a lot easier I don't know if they adjusted the idling, but the scooter is now ticking over a lot better too when sitting stationary. Whether or not this is just because the float is no longer dodgy, I don't know. I don't really care !! Overall happy with the outcome, and I'm back on the road Thanks for all your advice

The shop phoned to say that Piaggio has authorised them to pick up the scooter from my house, the only problem now is that they use a desperate company for uplifts, so I'm waiting on them getting back to me tomorrow with a time/date for pick up.... THE BALL IS ROLLING !!!

Thanks for the advice,
I bought the scooter from eclipse motorcycles in Tranent, Scotland. Although if ather try and keep relations good as my initial impression if the place was good, and they were always very helpful throughout the buying process !.... I dare say that they'll agree to travel that extra mile to pick up the scooter from my house after Piaggio have spoken to them. If not I'll be going all the way until I'm satisfied that the bike is back to it's original state (fixed, and no horrible petrol steaks all down the engine).... Not only this but my newly laid tarmack driveway is ruined too !! :/
I'll keep you posted....

Thanks a lot for the terrific response guy !!... I'm glad my gear/clutch situation doesn't paper to be anything to worry about and seems to be expected with a new bike. I'm just off te phone to Piaggio, who are gonna contact the shop to see if they can sort out the problem. Failing that. I will be using the threat of taking it to trading standards (henri)... And I will be threading to ask for my money back (Rab) as I am paying the scooter on HP !! Thanks again. I'll keep you posted

Hi guy/girls I recently bought a brand new 64 plate Vespa Px125. I had had the bike for just over a month and am already experiencing problems I have done approx 230 km (hardly anything) Firstly the gear cable has streched, I know this is to be expected with a new bike, but it had already streched to the extent that the dots don't line up by about quarter of a turn. Meaning that when I'm in neutral there is a lot o okay in the left hand gear selector. I have also noticed that when I am sitting idle at traffic lights etc... That my bike is cutting out as if I've stalled even when the clutch is in !!.... An anyone shed some light on this ?.... Is this caused by my cable streched problem or could this be something else ? Secondly. I went to start my scooter at the weekend, and petrol was pouring from the carb and down over the engine !!!... After racking my brains, I have came to the assumption that the fuel indicator or float has became hamme at the bottom indicating that the engine needs more fuel pumped to it there for my bike is pumping petrol continuously to the engine !! Again if anyone could please help me with this I will be more than greatful. I am new to scootering and am a complete rookie. So please help !! As it stands, I phoned the shop where I bought the scoot and they said I'd only receive road side assistance if I was more than a mile away from my home. Obviously I refused to ride the bike a mile away whilst it's pouring out petrol. So the shop then gave me Piaggio's number, they were closed on Friday night when I called, and I'm gonna phone again on Monday. Also I could obviously try and sort the problem myself, but the bike is still under warranty and I don't want to risk taking anything apart and then getting the blame from Piaggio for breaking it and voiding te warrenty. Any help in this would be greatly appreciated. I have waited a long time to get my scooter and am feeling very disappointed with my expietence !!.... Someone please tell me that this is a freak situation, and not a common occurrence ?? Thanks

Hi, I'm 24 and as go my area. I didn't think it was consisted to be too much of a "high risk" area, although it is on the outskirts of a fairly built up town in Scotland !!
I bought insurance from bikesure in the end at £280 fully comprehensive, 3 points only driving license, on a CBT, and my first ever year insuring something with 2 wheels. Does this sound reasonable ??... All comparison sites were coming up with around the same price as their best result !!

Hi guys, I've true both company's and they both came in at around £240 (which tbh had been about my cheapest quotes yet) think I'm just gonna have to accept that to be fully comprehensive on a CBT, with 3 points on my license that that's what I'm gonna have to pay, but to be fair it is my first year riding, which isn't too bad I suppose. Thanks again !!

Does anyone have any knowledge or information regarding the Carnaby designs helmets ??... I like the look of them visually, because they offer m full face protection, but at the same time don't make you look TOO much like a biker !! Because of the MOD targets etc... (We wouldn't want that) lol. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers !! Shakermaker

Hi guys, Haven't been on here for a while, but I'm still searching for a decent insurance quote on my recently purchased PX I've got a few questions to ask: 1) I have 3 points on my driving license. (from over 3 years ago) Does this affect my motorcycle cover ? and is it worth telling the insurer about this ? 2) I currently only have a CBT to my name; what catagory does this fall into when filling out insurance info online e.g. Provisonal, Full Uk license, Full Moped Licence etc... ? And lastly; what company's would you guys recommend ? Thanks again Shakermaker

Oh jeez, I'm glad there's proper shops/websites these days. I know for a fact if I had to drill into my vespa or be resourceful with things such as fishing rods I'd definitely make a mess of it !! - I work in the fabrications industry (20mm-100mm) making things intricate and pretty isn't my speciality haha

Or is that his user name in "fleabay" ?! And yeah I'd definitely be interested in having a look mate, I'll send my e-mail address in a private message ... And just out of interest; where did the mods buy their whip aerials/fox tails/ flags, and spots before there were any proper "mod shops" ?!?

I haven't yet bought my scooter but I've got proceedings underway !! Haha, I've got the bug, I've already decided what's all getting done to my scoot lol. Your scooter is looking great in the pics, I especially like the pretty green Union Jack sticker, it's awesome ! Where did you get it ?? Absolutely love Oasis and Pretty Green !!

Hi guys and girls it's me again... The one with all the questions !! I am contemplating buying a PX, and I've decided that the best option for me would be to buy a new one, and pay it up on finance as I haven't got the funds to buy one outright. I was just wondering what colours of the new re-released PX's are available. I am aware of the: Blu Midnight (navy blue) Grigio Dolomiti (gray) Montebianco (white) Nero Lucido (black) But I am wondering if any of you guys know of any dealers that sell new PX's in any other colours (excluding limited/special edition ones) because I like the slightly 'off white' colour that I've seen on some scooters, I also like the red, and the sky blue that I have seen on some peoples scoots, or are these the only colours it got re-released in ? Sorry for being a pain in the ass again, I just don't want to make the wrong choice :/ haha Thanks
