That was it! Took off the horn cover and wiggled the wires to the horn, and bingo... all electrics came back. So I guess I will need to replace the wires at some point. Thanks for the help

Hi folks,
I went to a rally at the weekend and scoot was fine on the way there, but after being parked for the weekend and in some pretty cold weather, when it was time to leave on the Sunday none of the electrics worked! No lights, indicators, horn etc. Does anyone have any idea why this could be? My knowledge is very limited, but I would like to see if I could have a go fixing this myself before being a pain to mates.
Thanks for for any help,
Nicky
Should of added, it's a kickstart T5 1983 Vespa. Scoot starts fine, just no electrics. Thanks again.

I searched here, the pre-fix is VNX1T which shows P125X These images may help (scuse the gloves on one of them, someone playing a prank at a rally)

Ugh, this has confused me. I was told (by my bro-in-laws brother who I swapped my old scoot with for the Vespa) is a T5. I don't know how to identify if it is or not, I'm not really bothered if it is or not either except to ensure I buy the correct parts when needed, but when I just did a search for the Chassis number to get a description, the pre-fix shows P125X 1978 - 1981 (V5 says registered in 1982), so now I have no clue what scoot I have?

Thanks Henri, I don't think I'm going to attempt to make up my own after that description , will look on eBay if only takes a couple of days delivery. Thanks again.

I've looked on Beedspeed but I can't see anything obvious that tells me what I need. We was looking inside the headset yesterday to see where the wires would go, but nothing was really obvious as it seemed anywhere the wires could go, was already taken up by other wires. Another friend put a kill switch just above the petrol on/off switch because he couldn't figure out where the wires went from the ignition switch, it works as far as turning off the ignition, but not secure at all so need to figure out exactly what I need to buy and where the wires will go from the ignition switch.

I did suggest for him to order the parts, but as he is more of a lammy rider (can build a lammy from the ground up) hes not sure about Vespa parts, so I said I would find out what was needed and order them. For me, its an easy option to go for the complete set in the above link, I might get a bit lost and get the wrong ones otherwise.

Hi there. I am buying parts for my T5 but am not really clued up as to what parts I need to purchase for a T5 Ignition complete set. All the Vespa has at the moment is a hole where the ignition would usually go and there doesn't seem to be any wires to connect anything to. Currently anyone can come along, start the scoot and off they trot so need to get some security sorted and the ignition is the first thing I want to sort. I wondered if anyone could advise me on what I needed to buy for a 1982 T5 Vespa Douglas.
Any help appreciated, thanks
Nicky

Get ones with nylon inners lining and swaged ends (silver coloured 'caps'). Hi, thanks for your reply. I'm a bit of a newbie to all this and ordering the parts for my experienced friend who is going to fit the cables for me... do you mean buy single cables with nylon inners lining rather than the complete set in the link? The only one I could find on B'Speed was a clutch cable with this description.

Hi, and thanks for your reply. I was going to purchase this set but wasn't sure if it was inners and outers, or just inners as it doesn't state which it is. I guess I should just email them.

Hi folks, new to the forum! I did have a look for the answer but couldn't find it (there may not be one ) .... I've just got myself a Vespa T5 125cc (the 2nd one I've owned) and am replacing the cables, inners and outers, I was wondering if anyone knew approx how much outer cable I would need in total? I can get "Cable - Universal Outer - 5mm - Black - 50 Metres" for £18.50 from Beedspeed, or "Cable - Universal Outer - 5mm - Black - Per Metre" which is 0.50p per meter. I assume that is the outer cable I need, just not sure how much of it I will need. Thanks for any help Nicky
