Where the rust is forming there is a thin bead of like a dry silicone gap filler which has let water through, the inside of the front mudguard, inside of the side panels have very little kind of over spray, which is really pathetic, a cold saltyroadwinter would eat this scooter. Its also fitted with a spaco indian carb, not a delortto. I prefer riding my t5, im p*sed off with this 'disposable scooter' , my advice to anyone thinking of buying a new px would be - buy an lml, the money you save spend a few quid to get the electrics ect upgraded. Or buy an older px which has been looked after , theres a few about. Ive lost faith with my new px , its just ,, substandard. Piaggio are taking the p*ss,,,,,,,,,

Ive decided to keep me T5 , its a lovely scoot, and rides much nicer than my new px 150, Talking of which,,,,,,, got it out of the garage today, been using the t5 for last couple of rides so I thought , a nice day lets get some miles on the new px. It started ok, but then I noticed it , its starting to f++in rust!!!! ,3 months old!!!!,where the foot boards meet the centre spine, on both sides!!, now thats as well as the cat making it run rough as billyo, the rear hub warped, a noisey clutch, and the indicators filling up with water after every wash, I phoned the dealer and explained my problems, he said ' the new px is an enthusiasts machine', Ill go and see that t**t on monday, The thing I keep beating myself up about is that I could have got a new LML for just over half the price of the px, , and they cant be that much worse.

Rust!

must correct myself, I think the one in my garage is 'kill rust', you rub down with wet and dry, paint it in , and a chemical reaction turns the rust blue and kills it, give it a key with wet and dry and its ready to paint .

Ive used that too exellent stuff, got it in halfords, when youve killed the rust, rubbed to back, primed it, and sprayed it, then you stand back, look at it and either say, not a bad job, or go on line on the scooter graphics website, and order some graphics to hide your paint job.

my px 150 does this especially when Ive been sat at traffic lights for a couple of mins at tickover. Hopefully when its run in and a SIP road exhaust replaces the cat/exhaust, this will cure it.

on my new px 150 the book says dont use over 80 precent throttle, (whatever that is), but my dealer told me not to be too gentle and use the full rev range , but dont thrash it , official running in time is 1000km (piaggio). Mine is defo running rich at the moment, hopefully it will be sorted at its 1st service.

tesco garages are selling their castrol actevo 2T oil for 1.48 per litre at the moment, Ive seen it mentioned on the net that it is old stock, which lackes an addertive which keeps jets clear not leaving deposits which the old stock might. I just wondered if anyone has heard anything similar, and is it to be avoided , or bought as much as possible at only 1.48 per litre?

cheers sbwnic, heres one youve prob heard before, well I 've just gone and bought a new px 150, ( i know , a fool and his money), anyway, it runs ok , but feels like its a bit rich, getting bogged down in heavy traffic, should I put a sito/sip/road on it? , not for performance reasons, just to get rid of the euro/cat gubbins and let the motor breath better, I dont want more performance, just a smooth ride ( like me T5), and will I have to re-jet???, cheers ..

arn't the cranks a bit suspect too on LML's??, Im suprised about the quality issues on the new PX range, a couple of lads in our club have them with no issues. I was thinking of buying one next spring, anyone else had any issues with the new PX range??.

sounds like youv.e had a bad experience there Jake. Your px shouldnt have had any of these problems which I think your dealer should sort out. You should get it straight back to them, Tell them your not happy and to give it a full check over. I wouldnt be too happy that a new engine has laboured and over heated. I,d expect these teething problems on a LML, not a vespa.

I bought a t5 classic last week, with a sito plus already fitted, Im pleased with the sound and performance, so I took it off yesterday as it was a bit scabby, a good wire brushing, and some halfords exhaust paint and its as good as new. What a job getting the hanger nut back on, just no room to get my hand in with the nut!!. There must be an easy way to fit this nut right , surely everyone doesnt bang their head on the garden path like I did today .

Ive beem looking at the latest px 125/150, a few mods are claimed, as in a new seat and a few other bits, but to get through euro-3 emmissions, is it fuel injected, and up or down on power of the previous model (07/08),?? as I cant find this imfo on the vespa site, cheers.

thanks for the advice all, on the net Ive seen readspeed do putoline 30s, and 1ltr will do 4 changes. Its funny, Im quite new to scooters, but Ive had a few MZ 2 strokes, in the past, the factory reccomended ep 80s in the gearbox, but many owners, who do big mileges always use straight 50's which they say circulates in a cold gearbox quicker. anyway cheers again for the advice.
