Just out of interest, is the inside of the flywheel meant to have paint on the inside? Attachments:

Hi all - got a slight cutting out problem. Scooter is 150 Super, but has LML Star engine....which as I'm led to believe is the same as PX150? Anyway, it was starting nicely, but after around a couple of miles it just dies, not in a fuel starvation way though (i've exhausted that theory). There was a decent spark when I put a new plug in, so I ran it, but the same thing happened, so it was another push home for me as I couldnt get it started again. Thought it might have been happening due to it getting hot and would start again when cold, but no joy there. No spark. Any theories much appreciated. Cheers - Jase

I'm running in my Polini 177 kit, and keeping my speed at around 40-45 mph. I have read elsewhere that 300 miles without taking the throttle more than three quarters, and then edging it up gradually from there for another 200 miles. It can be pretty hilly around these parts too and i dont suppose that can be too good for running in eh? What mileage/Mph would be sufficient in your scooterists opinions? Cheers - Jase

Yeah it did stop working,..... as soon as the plunger/push-rod/bloody brass bit etc etc fell to bits.
Anyway, I'm off to get a new one tomorrow as well as the pressure plate, as the wire clip was bust. AND I'm gonna put my old clutch springs back in too to maybe stop this happening again.

Should have explained myself better I suppose......this is the offending item www.sip-scootershop.com/en/products/push+rod+clutch+_87080000I have found a couple of pieces of it, have drained gear oil and stuck an air line down there, but obviously I wont know if its all out untill I start it up again. As I have a new Malossi clutch in thereand the springs are signifinately stiffer, I just couldnt seem to get the clutch right. . The clutch would bite whilst only letting the lever out a little bit. I suppose thats what done the said brass piece in?

I think my push rod has broken up and ended up in the gearbox. So obviously there's a few rattles going on in there. Am I gonna have to split the case to get the shrapnel out?

Just a question.....with my kit from SIP they supplied a throttle slide, the new carb already has one so why supply another?

Evening' all......after putting stuff back together my gears don't line up correctly anymore, i.e neutral lines up with 3rd on the handlebar. Could any nice person out there advise me how I can change the gear selector to the correct gear so its all in sync again? Cheers

Evenin' all.....Finally putting things back together after removing my engine to get the dropped in gearbox woodruff key! Ha ha Just a couple of questions to put to the usual gurus out there.... The clutch nut.... Should I zip it up with an air tool to get it back that extra couple of mill, I went to put clutch casing on tonight but there was a couple of mm gap..... I guess it should be flush before you bolt it up? Don't wanna wreck sh*t as usual! Also......excuse my ignorance (again) but where does a throttle slide go?? Buggered if I know!! Cheers for any light shed...😉

You reckon I should buy a whole new clutch or just larger clutch plates?

Thanks for that kru251, but I'm afraid thats not the problem I have. The problem I have is with the new clutch. The plates are smaller, as you can see, therefore the last friction plate that goes on that holds it all together is too small.

Bought a tuning kit and thought I would put the clutch plates in today. The last plate to go on before you refit the circlip is smaller in circumference than the old one though. Therefore, it won't hold the clutch in. Would it matter to use the old one to hold it all in? I then dropped the clutch retaining key into the gearbox.......(sigh.) So, now I have taken the whole engine out......which I might add I've never done before but probably should have done in the first place, as it would have been easier to work on...(sigh.) So, I gave the engine abit of a shake, but nothing came out, then the bulb went in the lead light I was using....( Happy #*%#@*" days......sigh.) It was time to call it a day I thought. Can't wait for tomorrow 😳

RE The Aus scooter scene .... It's pretty strong here in Sydney, mainly ex pats but a decent helping of locals too. Get yourself to the national rally on the Gold Coast at the end of September. . Jesus, I'm buggered if I'm going all that way! 😃

Well 30 years gets you a good bit of knowledge I suppose! Fair play to ya! I didn't know that was the engine in there, good job I kept the blokes phone number. So, that changes a few things does it? In answering your questions, It's just a weekend ride for me really, I don't go far. I don't have the confidence in it at present. I won't be doing Adelaide to Melbourne anyway! Cost wise, I reckon about $1000, that's round about £600 I reckon. I don't mind the regular maintenance part of it. As for speed, well it does about 80-85 kmph at the moment. Another 20+ would be nice though,....or am I setting the bar abit high? I need to show these Aussies it not all about V8 Holden's and Harley's (yawn yawn) and show em it's about having abit of class to go with it. They don't really get the scooter thing as a rule. You don't really see them too much over here, certainly not the classic scooters. They turn heads more often than not I've found. Bit more of a scooter scene in Melbourne and Brisbane as far as I can see but it's abit of a ride up to Queensland! Anyway, enough of my rambling....I look forward to hearing your suggestion/s. Once again, thanks very much Cheers - Jase
