Glad everyone enjoyed themselves and that those bikers outside the Ginger hall got a telling off for their antics. I was there on the ride out but on my LML with the missus on the back, stopped in Ramsey to pick her up. the T5 developed a bit of clutch drag so took her home and changed it. Was back out on Sunday but got lonely so I went home. Thanks to all those that attended to our little island and hope there were no problems for anyone. See you all next year, or at IOW?

We went again in October for my mates 40th and stayed in a good hotel by the Hilton and only worked out at £20 per night. I'm gonna book here and sort my own ferry. May be cheaper. Last years digs where a $hithole

The Hilton has one of the roughest clubs on the island downstairs 'Colours' the bouncers are thugs, allegedly. If anyone stays there, a couple of tips. Get a room seafront side, there is noise from the AC and car park at the rear. The breakfasts are brilliant, I'm there this weekend and sunday brekkie is one of the highlights. It is a good hotel and very clean and comfy, not too bossy either. 24 hour CCTV in the car park also. (It helps if you can speak Afrikaans, or Polish) Anyone booking elsewhere, tell me where you're looking at and I'll try to give an honest appraisal of the hotel. I have no interest in any establishment, by the way.

That time of year again wha? ;D
There is a good few of us heading from the Emerald Isle this year looking like about 30 bikes after the cracker at last years shenanighans.... the boat sailings are a bit dodgey though this time round, heading out from Dublin on the Thursday 'more boozing' and back Sunday a.m.

Skrappy, few of us are bringing the family this year, we were warned off the Hilton as it's basically a casino and nightclub with a few hotel rooms thrown in? Not my words.... so we were thinking of the Empress Hotel, whats yer verdict? Did I mention our new website and forum www.vespaclubofireland.com... ;D

The Empress is the b*ll**, nice to look at and a good staff. A bit expensive though. Parking isn't brilliant, but the bikes are ok on the pavement out front. Nice piano bar. Kiddies are 'accommodated'. The hilton is basically three storeys of rooms with a night club, casino, bingo hall and health spa on the bottom floors. Basic hotel without the frills you may expect with the hilton moniker. The club etc don't impact on the hotel as the entrances are totally separate. There is a three screen cinema next door, for the kiddies there is a kids club and a wide beach opposite. About 200 rooms with the third floor totally non-smoking.
For anyone returning to the 'Ellan Vannin' this year, there is an application in to change it to apartments, so ask early for rooms there.

Tim before you book the Hydro check how much your Ferry fare for yourself and your scooter are I think you might get a nasty shock. All the Hotels on thepackage deal are heavily subsidised and if you book separately you will pay a lot more.Last year Ferry and Scoot with no accommodation was £120

Vfm for reasons best known to them decided to move The Shires from it's original dates of 9th to 10th August to clash with the IOM which had the 4th to 6th July to itself.I deliberately waited for the dates to come out of the meeting at Brid so as not to clash with anyone. If i'm involved in the IOM Rally next year i'll book the dates for 2009 before I leave the Island and if the big organisers don't like it ------ Tough!

Barry you know what the vfm are like they will do all they can to disrupt anyone that plans a weekend
there trying to corner the market and are there own worse enemy
vfm use to stand for value for money
not no more it dont there putting on sh*t venues and charging the earth
the isle of man last year was organised by a scooterist for scooterists not a money making buisness
i know where i would rather be if dates clash !!!!!!!!!
cheers barry
