Morning!
I am perhaps the only person on this forum who is looking to keep the standard exhaust on their PX125 disc (2003). I don’t mind the power (for what I use my PX for).... I have hardly any knowledge or experience with the mechanics side of things, so thought I’d start with trying to fit a standard exhaust first before anything more technical (I hope to have a Road 2:0 exhaust next time, when I’m more clued up!)
Anyway, my question is: fitting a standard exhaust (which I have always had on) do I need to change anything else? I presume I can leave the carb alone if it’s just a like for like replacement? I was just going to get a new attaching bolt and washers... is there anything else I need to do or is worthwhile doing whilst I am about it?
Thank you for your time in replying, it is very much appreciated!

Hi Andy, It's pretty straight forward but I personally would recommend taking your back wheel off after you've loosened your exhaust bolts as it just makes access a lot easier. For the record if you are contemplating fitting a Sip road 2 I would do it this time round as your carburettor would probably only need a bigger main jet and promise you it's simple to change. The sip and the standard exhaust are physically the same to fit and I have found the build quality of standard exhausts a bit iffy as they nearly always need some form of alteration to make them fit. Hope this is of some help.

If you are replacing the bolt that goes through the engine mount use one with a taper at the tip of the threads as it makes it easier to line up as it locates more easily.

Hello. be sure to smother the bolt in anti-seize grease (Copperslip) and a spring washer. I always put a smear of exhaust assembly paste on the connection as well.
