Hi Guys
Need a little help plz
I have bought a old Vbb guessed to be 1961
The chap who sold it to me said it has been in his possesion for over 18 years (and it does look that way as its been dry stored in a garage and its as sound as a pound)
The scoot was sold with NO log book or reg on the bike
The Vin Numbers are as clear as day and definetly not been tampered with
It would be a shame to lose the original Number plate to the bike and as such id like to find it if possible
How do I go abouts doing this with the vin only

Years ago I had a Vespa sportique, ( had a photo published in readers rides in Scootering magazine and my two kids were on it , aged about 5 and 8, the 8year old is 31 now!), I asked the local Vespa club of Britain rep how to register it, as the frame had it's vin plate miss-placed by a garage, after they had resprayed it( before I acquired it from them!) To the best of my knowledge , the engine was the original one ,which I believe with this model is the same number as the vin number stamped on it as the frame! I also had the original number plate. I was told they couldn't help me, as they needed a rubbing of the frame number. I said no can do, does that mean I'll have to scrap it And was told yes ! ( was well p*shed off!! So much for saving historicalVespas I thought !) Ended up Selling it, after letting the buyer know the story, don't know what happened to it!

Mine was a similar story with the Vespa club, but mine is only an 83 PX.... they may well do it now for a VBB, as it's old enough and deemed worthy to keep and restore.... 😐

But I HAVE the vin
The reg is not so important as such, its only inportant as I want to find the original reg that matches my Vin
People sell numberplates NOT vins,
Vins are spacific to the frame were as number plates are not
I am trying to find the number plate number that was first alocated to my Vin number

The Vespa Club should do what they can for you for a fee, every other club in this Country does it. Worse case scenario is that they can supply a dating certificate. Whether you ever find out the reg number is another matter. DVLA store Reg numbers which are linked only to the body number, not the engine number.

A VIN is just as removeable as a numberplate. Speak to the club, and good luck with that. I joined them for 4 years, they did the dirty on me.

You may never get the original reg, it could be reused, or any number of reasons unavailable! As before try vbcb or the like. Mij☺

Fact is that DVLA reference to your bike is the reg number, that is the only key that opens the file to it. The Chassis Number can only create a unique DVLA file for your machine if it is listed as stolen on the Police National Computer at Hendon. Trust me : ) . May the Force be with you.
