I spoke with my paint man today re quotes for a full respray for the 'P' range Vespa which he has done before. I asked about the sandblasting prior to paint/repairs etc. He suggested having the whole lot dipped to remove any hidden problems. He has done many bikes from Harley to Vespa to show standard. I do have a dipper local and likewise a blaster. Thought I would ask the members of this fine forum for their views and experiences with this dark and expensive subject. Come on Daz your bike looks nice. Regards.

How rough is your scoot? If it isn't too bad, probably get it soda blasted, or something similar. Personally I would have it blasted, in case it hasn't been drained off properly, it won't mess with the paint.

Good body just a poo colour, the dipper will put it in the oven for SOME TIME so no drips. Thanks for reply. Any prices for Soda and blasting come to mind. Thanks.

One company threatened to charge me £450. Asked him if he has heard of sex and travel. He said no, I said well f**k off then. I have since heard of a company who would sandblast a frame and panels near me for under £100 but I haven't checked it out yet.

Thanks for the compliment toystory!
I think costs for resprays range from about £60 (8 rattle-cans from halfords) to £2k+ for candies, pearlescent, metalflake etc etc. It all depends on the starting condition. the only experience i have of resprays is getting my two lambretta side panels repaired - rust holes & rot. This cost me approx £300.
So when i come to respray my vespa, (to return it to its std. blue colour), given its OK conditon i would be budgeting for £1000.
hope this gives you some guidance.
