hi guys my wife just got her first scoot last sunday so it needs a wee bit work for an mot. it has an oil leak from the clutch cover breather, oil starts running out as soon you rev the engine. oil coming out is very clean.
any thoughts
thanks in advance

Does the oil that comes out have a petrol smell to it?

A mate of mine had the exact same problem and it was the carb flooding, and yes the oil did smell of petrol, new carb float and needle and it was sorted, even though the petrol had been passing the crank seal into the gearbox the scooter has been fine since and not needed rebuild. Ian

spot on H was way to much oil in it drained it put the right amount in no more oil leak. just need to get the rear indicator working now and its ready for an MOT. think it's the cowell switch on the frame thats got a bad connection. can that switch come out without taking the fuel tank out H?

nope ya need tank out to get to back of it , clean the contact from outside with a end of screwdriver or needle file .but its more likely the earth , clean to bare metal the spring on panel an clip on frame it fits into ,thats the earth . H

Hope your carefully checking the rest of that scoot,as the schoolboy error with the oil would make me want to check over everything, Bud.
ride safe.

theres also a chance its a worn float needle , if scoots left with fuel on it will fill the crankcase an seep past seals into gearbox .tho as oil was clean sounds like a overfill ,H.
