None I know of, some may tell if they change engine and it can be identified easily from the pre-fix code but not for a big bore kit, and if you look at the changes in legislation declaring modifications can be very problematic and your insurance may want engineer report etc and let`s face it a 180 kit just makes a px 125 ride like a modern 125, any other 125 for the last 20 years has had 12hp before tweaking whereas the px 125 actually got slower once cat fitted etc. Maybe other users on the forum will have a different angle on this subject. There is a reason big bore kits are so popular, easy to fit, cheap to buy and results generally very good, some shops were even fitting them from new.

It's easy to go bigger when telling the DVLA, it's a pain going smaller.

OK, I had a chat with DVLA. They say I need a written confirmation on headed paper from a garage (if the change took place before you bought the vehicle). so I spoke to an MOT place for motorbikes and they said do not worry about it!! so I spoke to a chap at a motorbike place he said he was not qualified to write one put his maint Peter at anuther MOT place may be able to help so I had a chat with him and he said he will have to have a look at the bike but as long as the bike is ok. he will write for the same price as an MOT

So you have a full bike license, to ride over a 125, If you found this hard to register,,,Just wait till you try and get insurance

i dont usually tell dvla , but always insure to correct cc .my plan is if caught say it was a oversight ,am on free tax so not worried about being done for avoidance . so long as your insured correctly a copper would have to be having a bad day to care i reckon .H

The following statement proves i`m old.... I remember when nobody bothered taxing scooters or bikes! And rarely had a log book in their name, just left it in the name of the person they bought it from. I also remember when your px 125 got wrecked or blew up, so you bought a complete 150 or 200 and just moved the reg plate over to your new scoot to save the admin grief and it was job done. Some folk even put vespa reg plates onto lambretta scooters as they were sure plod couldn`t tell the difference!
