Just wondering what’s the general thinking on frame and bodywork preparation prior to painting to get the best possible finish.
Could acid dipping be too severe on Vespa frames & result in warping ?
Is blasting with an appropriate media better ??
Thanks

I would say how bad is the scoot in question. If it's in good order, soda or media blasting (that's t**tting it with a rolled up Daily Star, by the way) is my opinion. If you have the cash and the confidence, then acid dipping isn't a bad way to go. Neither should affect the end product, if you can get someone to lay a good drop of paint on, that's where your finishing is, in the paint and mopping.

Thanks guys, would love to get it stripped and attempt to spray it myself but sadly I don’t possess the skills or the knowledge 😂😂

Dipping is risky imo, the problem is the fluid gets into any seams and can ‘reappear’ after your nice paint job has been completed, it also eats away all the sealer which may have been used between joints like the central tunnel to floor on a PX.
Acid dip won’t warp a frame, but use of the wrong media in blasting, or the wrong angle whilst blasting can dent the hell out of thin panels.
You can get the whole scoot blasted for about £100, hopefully by someone who knows what they are doing, or as suggested hit it with nitromors and a cup brush, I’ve done whole frames like that ;-)
