Guys Posted this on the smallframe forum but would appreciate the views from you guys as any advice you’ve given me in the past has been spot on .......
To date I have always been one for the larger ladies and know exactly nothing about the beautiful Smallies so I need to once again impose upon the generosity of those very much in the know !
I have been offered a 1983 Vespa 100 sport that has been sitting unloved and unused for past 15 years. I’ve went and had a gander at it and it started from cold on 2nd kick and sounds sweet though I would say she would benefit from new bearings / seals etc.
Bodywork lets her down with a poor paint job in previous years and poorly repaired accident damage to front mudguard. Slight surface rust underneath but nothing to get scared about.
A definite candidate for full strip down/blast and respray.
Without the benefit of photos, could anyone out there give me some idea of what a reasonable sale price would be for me to pay for this. Guy is looking £1300 ......
Thoughts anyone ??
Thanks a million

Fiver... And a pint. No pork scratchings though, you're getting into big money territory then..... My money's on around the £800-£900 mark, it's been laid up for a stretch, who knows what needs doing? You could strip it down and rebuild, but if it runs, use it as is for a bit. It's an old scoot (which seems to be creeping up in price mind) do you plan to keep it? Is there anyone else interested, or is it just you? Is the bodywork in good order, or is it "religious"?

Thanks Ironsloth, No one else is looking at it as I came across it by accident so it wasn’t on the “ open market” so to speak. Bodywork is generally not too bad, a bit tired and tatty with the worst being underneath. No obvious holes - yet ! Front mudguard took a hit in days gone by and seems to have been repaired by an apprentice in the dark with no tools. It’s certainly rideable as it stands - just needs MOT. As I’ve never had a smallie, nor any knowledge of their workings, my plan would be to try and get it for much lower, then at some point do a full strip / rebuild and respray ....... once I get a few pennies gathered !!
