www.scooterotica.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=39380Hi all, just been reading the above topic on the Scooteotica forum and it reminded me of an incident in the 1990's. My mate had just bought a restored Italian ( I think, memories not as good as it was π) GP 200, from the shop where I was the PX mechanic, anyway he had it about a week, when some scummers broke in to his garage cut the chains that locked it to a metal bench and LIFTED the complete scooter over the full length of his car, it was found wrecked and burnt out two days later, down an old railway track, feckers. My shed has 4 hasp locks, two alarms, all scooters chained and padlocked and a big sticker on the door, saying this shed is alarmed and if you break in, you will be alarmed too, as it's also protected by EXTREME violence π. You can only try so much to keep your things safe π lol. Ride safe. MijβΊ

Now thatβs a lot of hassle !lifting a scooter over a car,,,then just going for a joy ride/and burning it, Thought after all that it would become a ringer,(probably is π³)

Went back to insurance company, my mate lost money on it and didn't even want to buy it back as salvage, he bought a 1000cc Kawasaki after that, figured they couldn't lift that over his car. No idea why you think it " probably is π³" a ringer, you may be moving in the wrong circles.π I personally have no time for any of that sh*t and think it brings scootering into disrepute.

At the risk of sounding like a thieving get..... Look at it this way. Back in the 50s/60s/maybe 70s, there was more than one key that would fit, unlock and start your car. Nowadays they say these computer programmed keys are "unique" to your motor, which is absolute rubbish. There are only so many different locks/codes around, manufacturers go on the consumers "ignorance", not trying someone else's car with your key etc. nothing's changed. As for shed security, nothing in the world beats goats or geese! My German Shepherd used to do an amazing job, now I have this daft Ibizan Hound, dam dog would probably open the door for you, then follow you out!!the only problem with "guard geese" is they are good at their job.... Too good....

If you put in lots of obvious looking security (cameras in plain sight, big spotlights, guard tower, sniper, angry woman armed with a frying pan and a serious bad attitude, etc) you are actually making yourself a big target. Sometimes less is more, but in this case, less obvious is better I think. Like digging a pit all the way round, covering it in camo tarp, and keeping pigs down there... Bit like Bricktop in Snatch... π

I put all the locks ect on my shed because the young hoolies π¦ know I always have scooters and have had bikes, it even got to the stage, they were appearing at my garden gate with wrecked track scooters and bikes, asking if I could fix them! Which I never have, nor will.π Would have set my black Lab on them, but they probably would like getting their balls licked ππ lol. ( Ironsloth or anyone else, he saves that for strangers, before you fire back ππ)( but your welcome to visit πlol).
