Ok, so between Friday when I parked her up and today, I've managed to lose the only key I have for my 84 px125e. Have tore this feckin house apart, but no joy. In a nutshell, how screwed am I?

Not very I would have thought, at a guess the barrels fairly worn, try a small padlock key to open the glovebox at least. Carefully jiggle it in the lock, just make sure the scoot is in your garden though.... The only spare keys I have is a box full of old car keys..... If you can get the glovebox open, there should be a number on the barrel? I'm alright, my mates called Allen, I use his keys.... 😁

If there is a number on the barrel, I presume I need to then contact Piaggio about having a spare made? Or are there other, potentially cheaper, options as a quick google suggests you could pay up to £200 for a replacement. Hoping that's bullsh*t, obviously!!

I know there's either 3 or 5 versions (definitely convinced it's an odd number.... 😕) of the actual seat locking unit bit thingy wotsit... I'm all for the technical terms... I wouldn't bother contacting Piaggio, any good scooter dealer will be able to help.

Thanks, Jim, I've found 3 barrels with 2 keys for £13 delivered. The question now is, how easy is it to remove the old barrels and replace them? The manual suggests the ignition one is released by removing one screw from the housing which can be accessed once the horncover is removed. Does that sound about right? I'm in new territory here, so any advice would be appreciated.

I'm having some bother replacing locks just now, mine were all missing on my latest project, the rms barrel kit look ok, I would stay well clear of indian ones

Thanks for the tip, Doulsy, I'll bear that in mind. I'm going to see my local supplier tomorrow, hopefully he'll be able to sort me out

By way of an update; I went to my local scooter shop with a view to getting some new barrels and some tips on getting the old ones out. Wasn't until I mentioned that I needed 3 barrels as the seat lock was still in situ that he said, and I quote "you're a dick, take the seat lock to a locksmith and he'll cut you a new key"! That's what I did, and a tenner later I have 3 keys and am back on the road. Thanks to all for their tuppence worth

Brilliant, your the first person I've heard doing that! Will keep it in mind for the future, everyone I know Changes the locks, hence lots of lock sets on eBay, etc, apologies for giving you the complicated advice.😉 Interesting that no one jumped in and said "see a lock Smith" lol Jim☺ P.s I'll get my coat.😳
