Morning chaps,
Making myself useful when I can’t sleep !
Trying to save a few pennies on this PX125 rebuild and noticed a few of the more savvy among you seem to buy your bearings direct from places like Simply Bearings rather than scooter dealers. What’s the current thinking on this ?
Can anyone recommend a good supplier who would stock sizes required? And also where would I find out exact sizes required for the px125e ?
Thanks Morelli

Thanks H - halfway through that process right now - only issue I’m having is I can’t locate the correct bearing on Simplys site for the flywheel / crank race bearing.
Would you happpen to know the code off the top of your head ?
Thanks

Give BRT Bearings a go, they have places across the UK.

My memory may be wrong? But is that flywheel bearing not only used by Vespa, so quite hard to get?
Apologies if I'm wrong 😉

I kept all the old bearings from my p200 build so I would know all the sizes in future or to help folk on here, that's good info H about sip giving you the sizes.

Spent a bit of time scanning SIP for sizes as H suggested. Def a good suggestion- Thanjs H.
Simply have most of them in stock including the 21 needle bearings and prices are a lot cheaper than dealers.
As Mij said - flywheel bearing cannot be got for love nor money anywhere. Even tried phoning Simply but the girl there said she’d never came across it before. But at the money I saved on the buying the others I can take a hit and buy that one from a dealer 😂😂

Morelli, when you asked simply for the Vespa flywheel bearing, did you ask for just that or did you give them measurements, whether it's a roller bearing, whether it's open, flat or rubber faced?

Ironsloth, I initially used their search engine with the measurements but after I got no joy I phoned them. Tried my best to explain what I was after then the girl asked me to email her the details. So I then sent her a direct link to SIP flywheel bearing page and after a bit of research she got back to say they hadn’t anything like it nor could they get it in for me. M

Seems to be very hard to source the flywheel bearing H.
What’s your knowledge of rear hub seals like for this Px125e?
I stripped the rear hub and found no circlip or seal present - either internal or external. Brakes and back plate covered in oil. The installed bearing ( now removed) was a sealed type. I’m probably very wrong here but should it not be an “open” bearing, circlip then an external type oil seal ? Or does this engine use internal seals / bearings ?
Engine numbers return it as a 1983 PX125e engine.
Thanks M

a 83 is no way a internal seal , thats t5's an efl onwards ,1984 , if its a weird one the tell is under were the output shaft comes out cases .if theres a drain hole there its a efl/internal seal,no tiny 3mm hole def external seal. somebodys bodged it with a sealed bearing most likely ,you can use a sealed bearing there, just remove the inside seal that faces gearbox .an seals come in 2 sizes ,27mm an 30mm ,to match the size of centre boss of hub, measure ya hub centre an get matching seal .
