Hi guys, gals and gurus... Recently acquired a 1980 P125x....
Looking at the wiring, which is an absolute birds nest, i very quickly became very confused. Not hard with my Vespa knowledge I know !
Three wires coming from main loom to the junction box are coloured Green, Black & Blue. So far so good
Now comes the issue ....
According to Haynes manual - page 141 - there should be same 3 wires coming from stator & joining in junction box.
However this little lady has 5 wires coming out of stator - green/yellow, white, grey, blue & black .....
Can anyone shed any light on this set up for me ??
Thanks a million as always !

should be green/red/white/black/ blue from stator , green/yellow an grey are found on lambretta gp indian stators i think ,havent got my gp notes/diagrams to hand .if you dont want to remove your flywheel an trace wires by eye ,i would try blue an black to main loom ,they should be power an earth . green/yellow to green on cdi ,white to white on cdi ,leaving the grey wire for the cdi red . was it running when you got it ,an how was it connected then .H

Thanks H, It wasn’t a runner when I got it but that was due to carb issues. With a card rebuild, new fuel and new plug she started first kick although she did sound very rough.
I got it the other day for very cheap, bodywork a bit rough but saveable ! Hasn’t been started in approx 4 years.
Just having a general poke around it last night to get the measure of what’s required. Having looked again at the wiring from stator the colours are green, white, faded red ( appears grey) blue and black.
Blue and black run direct from stator to junction box and join the blue & black from main loom. Red, white and green run from stator to cdi unit ( held on with silicone 😬).
The other green wire direct from main loom runs straight to the cdi unit and is currently plugged into last spade on extreme right ( opposite side of where HT lead is )
Should there not be an earth wire connected to flywheel cover screw ?
Also noted that there was no flywheel woodruff key so that might account for rough running ??
Wiring very tired looking so thinking of stator rewire and new cdi. Flywheel has chipped fins so it’ll need replaced possibly also

morelli, the green wire from the main loom, on the last space on the right goes to the ignition switch, it's in the correct place, just make sure you put a female spade connector on it.😉 Yes, the CDI should have an earth wire coming from it and connected to a flywheel cover screw, some are black , white or yellow wires( the colour makes no difference 😉) see link below for a yellow wires example 👇.The last one I bought for my "o" tuned P2 was bought from here. www.wasp-performance.co.uk/ducati-energia-ignition-cdi-unit.htmlYou need a flywheel side Woodruff key to keep the timing set, so plz fit one, I'm surprised it's running or not back firing when running.😉 I would buy a rewire kit,for the stator wires. 👇 www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vespa-PX-EFL-5-Wire-Stator-Plate-Rewiring-Loom-BGM-/252804593180?hash=item3adc53f61c:g:oGcAAOSwR21ZyofX I've seen people running scoots with 1 or 2 fins missing, I personally don't, as it's meant to be a balanced part, it's up to you, maybe if you posted a photo of your flywheel, we could give you an idea if it's usable. Mij☺

in my professional opinion thats "fecked" , looks like some-bod tried to remove with out the proper holding tool .a old "get ya home" trick was to remove the opposing fin to balance the fly .think if ya tried this you wouldnt have many left .ebay an lml flys ,same as piaggio but half the money ,proper lml not the real cheapies ,theres been cases of the cheapys being rivetted 1 rivet out on the centre .can be fixed but a pain. an on ya stator ,99 times from the hundred its the green wire ,something in the green wire piaggio used causes the copper to corrode internally ,can look ok outside.tho yours is faded to almost yellow ,bet ya if ya strip it copper inside is green an fragile ,other common fault is blue wire rubbed thru were it passes thru baseplate .
