I recently announced in a couple of places the horrific news that Roger Daltrey has cast the totally inappropriate Mike Myers as Keith Moon in the film he is producing about the drummer. Does anyone have any thoughts on this disastrous choice, or indeed who should play the other members of the band? The obvious option for the lead role is the uncanny Moon clone Paul "Moonie" Kemp, the drummer in Who's Who (see our gigs review page for a photo www.vespa.org.uk/Gigs.html). I quite like Rocky Marshall for Daltrey. Better known as surgeon Ed Keating in Holby City, he's from North London and bears quite a resemblance to the young singer. His dad in Holby City was even played by Garry Cooper (Peter Fenton in Quadrophenia) so if that's not a link I don't know what is. I'd suggest Ralf Little for Townshend, but I don't think he could do the accent. But then that doesn't seem to matter to Roger; have you heard Mike Myers attempts at "British" accents?

If Roger's going to insist on a big name American actor to get the box office receipts up, Sam Rockwell's a better choice than Mike Myers. At least he can act. Rocky Marshall for Daltrey? Or here's a controversial suggestion: How about Martin Hanc**k for Townshend? Any other suggestions?

Very funny. Like I was saying, Paul Kemp, Keith Moon: Only their mothers can tell them apart.
