Did you see them both on Jools Holland's Hootananny last night? Goldfrapp were excellent.

Ocean Colour Scene, would be my fav at present.
Although I saw Weller and Glenn Tilbrook (ex Squeeze) along with OCS all in December.
I also saw The Human League, OCS (again), Martin Fry (ex ABC), Tony Hadely (ex Spandau Ballet), Duran Duran and Oasis during in 2005.

Don't watch it if you don't want to, but if you have to, at least vote for the scooterist - Preston for Celebrity Big Brother.

Right people, vespa.org.uk has entered a new era. One where bands actually approach ME and ask me to review their latest album. Who would have thought it? I've been contacted by an unsigned band from Ipswich called The Blind Poets who have just released their 3rd album. They quote some of their influences as The Beatles, Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash. I haven't heard the album yet, but I've listened to three of their older songs on the net and while they're very good, I'm not sure if it's the sort of thing you scooterists would like. Do me a favour and have a listen yourselves; if you give me positive feedback I'll obtain the album and review it. www.bbc.co.uk/suffolk/going_out/music/unsigned/a_f/blind_poets/index.shtmlCheers.

Spence, have just had a listen to 3 tracks from the blind poets, they sound good at what they do, folky with an element of the beatles. Not my cup of tea to be honest mate.

Listened to the 3 tracks on the BBC Suffolk website.
Good tunes, ok harmonies, definately heavy on the folk influence.
Not punchy/rocky enough for me, wouldn't class them as pop-rock at all like the mini review does.
Prefered these 2 tracks in the unsigned top 5 on the right instead,
The Runes - Sargeant Stinge
Rosalita - Manga Girl

Lads, thanks a million for the feedback. Funnily enough, when I listened to the three songs, the first two words I wrote down were "folky" and "Beatles". I had a feeling you'd think good at what they do, but not our cup of tea as well, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't way off.
Oh well if the Blind Poets read this, hopefully they'll appreciate that we appreciate them, but that we're just not their target audience.
Scotty I noticed those other links, mainly because of the name Manga Girl which caught my eye. Recommended listening then?

Hey I've just seen the Arctic Monkeys for the first time (I'm not very down with the kids) on that hit parade show on the BBC. They really are rather good, in fact, I'd go as far as to say they're the b*ll*cks.

Well done to Paul Weller, Kaiser Chiefs and Arctic Monkeys for picking up awards at The Brits last night. Commiserations to Ian Brown for losing out to James "Rhyming Slang" Blunt in Best British Male.

Big well done to James Blunt for winning a couple of Brits. It won't be long before his cover bands are outnumbering the Jam ones at the scooter rallies. Your Beautiful mate.

Because Kaiser Chiefs won Best Rock Act and Best Live Act, not Best Band. Coldplay will be odds on favourites next year when they introduce the new category "Best Insomnia Cure".

Very impressed with The Zutons on TOTP this week, and I'm loving the new Franz Ferdinand song The Fallen. Which is the first one of theirs I've liked much at all. It has nothing to do with the new Mod haircut the lead singer's sporting either.

Finally saw my current favourite band Kasabian on Friday night at the Nottingham Arena.
Absolutely awesome, thought I was going to pass out a couple of times when the backing track started interfering with my pulse rate, and definitely one of the loudest gigs I've ever been to.
Fratellis supporting, not too bad either.

Ocean Colour Scene at the Manchester Apollo last night. Still the best f**king band in the world.
New material sounds brilliant, especially Man In The Middle (written by bass player Dan), can't wait for the new album in the Spring.
Nice to bump into young Jimmy from Liverpool SC and one or two other young Mods, keeping the scene alive.

This week I am mostly listening to Arcade fire, Bright Eyes, Broken Social Scene, I Am Kloot, TV On The Radio, Ryan Adams, The Walkmen, The Sleepy Jackson and Wolf Parade.
Some Spanish bloke at the Nou Camp ticket office told me I look like James Blunt, it didn't go down to well with me (though my girlfriend at the time found it hilarious). He did redeem himself slightly by then adding Liam Gallagher to the list when I bumped into him later, but still James Blunt .... Tw*t.
