My PX is due its first service, looking through the manual there's very little to it - I've spent years fixing motorbikes so I'm not worried about doing it myself. If I do a DIY service it will, of course, invalidate my 2 year warranty but I'm not sure that's much of a problem. Nothing has gone wrong with it so far in a year's riding (shamefully only about 500 miles) so it seems unlikely that it's suddenly going to explode on me. Is this delusional thinking, should I get it serviced at the nearest dealer or just get on with my plan to Scatalizzare the beast and reclaim a hidden pony or two?

rightsideup, your correct, it isn't too hard and I know plenty of people who have done all of their own servicing, but in view of the low milage you do(it's not even run in), would it not be worth while getting a Pro service and keeping the warranty incase you decide the scoots not or you or something does go wrong ( it does happen). Allegedly 😉😉😉, people do tinker and tune scooters still under warranty but come service time they allegedly 😉😉😉 change any obvious parts back to standard, in the hope of keeping the warranty 😱, some garages may not even bother about modifications 😉. So, all I can say is, it's up to you☺. Good luck. Mij☺

I'd let them do it , after all it in't gunna hurt owt ! Then you still have your warranty intact just in case plus full service history ! Judging by the mileage your doing the warranty will have run out by the time its run in so then you'll be free to tinker/tune as much as you want !
Cheers .
P.S. rightsideup who's that in your avatar ? I'm liking it !!!

I would let them do it to be fair, it's barely run in.

Advice taken, I'll book it in this week. The avatar is from a postcard they sell at the Ducati museum, I'm not sure who it is but I like his style!

Wocha Rightside up, like you I'm a biker gone scooterist with my first PX. Last July I bought a 2014 model with just 288 miles on clock. As it hadn't been used much for two years I adjusted & lubed all the cables as clutch & gear change were way out. I cleaned the air filter & checked plug etc & rode around running my engine in until due for first service. I decided to take it to the shop for the first time and ended up paying £125 for them to say "You've done a really nice job on that, we didn't have to adjust anything." They didn't do an oil change which I thought was odd as book said it's part of first service but they said Piaggio say it isn't... Like you say they are generally reliable providing you take care of it, oil changes are cheap as chip, at about £2:50 per change! & there's plenty of threads on here where I've learnt how to adjust PX gear cables/clutch etc. Oh & for the price of my service you could buy a Sip 2.0 exhaust
