So here is my first question on rebuilding my 1965 150 sprint. Got the motor completely apart except for the needle bearing on the axle- selector box side. This has half the bearing hidden behind motor case. It seems like it would drive out facing inside of case. I removed the cage holding the bearings and need some advice on how to remove this bearing. I will be replacing with new, so I'm not worried about distorting the old one. All other bearings came out fairly easy with a little heat.

bit of heat an hit the part you can see ,usually moves it down enuff so you can get a drift onto hidden part ,or get fancy an use a internal bearing puller.but i only bother with the puller if its a unusualy stiff bearing, mostly they come out easy . an count ya lucky stars its not a pre-62 motor, they have a 3 piece bearing there which are difficult an expensive ,£28 for 1 bearing . Thanks henri That's what it took Heat and solid blows and she came out. It just kind of fell out at the end, didn't get to see which way the chamfer faced. but that's up the road a bit. Bead blasting then order parts.

So when this bearing came out it flew out rather easy at the end. I did not see which end faceed the outside of the case. 4 pieces 1. cup 2. thick washer 3 roller bearings 4 cage. I know how it fits together just not which side goes in first. Washer or cup. TIA

aah it is the 3 piece one , there tricky to install .piaggio made a special drift to fit them , but there rare an expensive ,i used a old shaft itself .with a lot of grease to hold them together assemble them ,an the order they go in is washer first then cup ,an with heated cases an care the cup can be driven in without rollers dropping out . Does this side of axel shaft get a seal. Seems like oil would want to leak into selector box. I sure didn't see any when taking apart GRFX

Thought I'd update in case any other members have same concerns. I installed the bearing by using a smaller shallow socket that id hole and wound electrical tape around the socket to hold bearings and washer to cup. Then heated case and chilled bearing. Then used a deep socket to drive everything in. Bearing cage stayed intact. small socket with tape popped right out GRFX
