After ground burn out and battery swelling (probably caused by battery cable touching frame or the other battery cable, they were a bit frayed and old) I'm still trying to figure out whats happening as the scoot won't start.
I stripped it all and checked wiring which all visually looks good, sprayed all contacts with contact spray just to give it a clean up but nada.
These are the tests I've managed to do so far;
Voltage Regulator;
I stripped the voltage reg off the GT and I got the following readings from diode test;
from the red pin to the 3 stator cables 6.06 - 5.41 - 6.01
from the black pin 5.57 - 5.83 - 5.98
With the electrics plugged back up and new battery connected I did the stator wire test and got a reading of 0.8 ohms between each of the 3 yellow cables which go into the voltage regulator.
I did the stator earth test and got an O/L reading for each of the yellow cables with the neg of multimeter against the earth frame screw and then again against the engine block.
Coil test;
I managed to get the coil off and here are the bench test readings
from the green pin to the wire that actually pushes in to the spark plug holder I'm getting 3.04 k ohms
resistance between the green and the black pins goes up to 0.5 ohms but settles between 2 & 3 ohms, can't do an actual spark test as I aint enough hands but i fitted a new plug, although the Iridium plug previously in the scoot was only 2 months old so should have been fine.
Immobiliser;
The immobiliser light pulses as normal with the key out, when the red key (the only one I have) goes into the on position, I get 1 bright longer pulse and the light goes out, which I think is normal?
The scoot tries to turn over but its not firing so does that just leave the Magneti Marelli ECU/CDI to check. I'm trying to make sense of section 9 of the manual to get the multi meter on it but i can't. I guess it has to be plugged up to test, does the ignition have to be on? Not sure on the pin numbers either.
Am I missing anything else?
