Craig79,if you could weld a fitted piece, with as thin a skim of filler as you can on top of it, that would be best but much harder due to the curves both ways!( My ex brother-in- law is a professional body man so had help/ tuition first couple of times😉 )and still had to knock it slightly back and skim with filler😉.Second best ( and much easier) would be plate on the back, then thinest skim of filler on top, because the the thicker the filler, the more chance of cracking or falling out due to vibration over time. All the above IMHO 😉 and has worked for me in the past👍😉. Good luck with it mate and let us know how you get on☺ Jim (aka😉) mij☺
