Unfortunately my scooter was stolen, battered and bruised and dumped.
I've recovered it and the little soldier is still running like a dream, but have a feeling the repair bill will cripple me (badly scraped paintwork, front pulled off and electrics yanked, seat lock busted, wing mirrors twisted off - bolts are shredded). Insured on a multi-vehicle, so I'll loose my car no claims bonus if I put it through.
I'm wondering what the scrap value is, either for cash for part ex.
Sorry to say, scrap value is next to nothing as it's by weight. My mate weighed a mark 3 Astra in and they gave him £35. Best bet is if the engine is still good, take it out and save for a project. Try and salvage any parts you can. Whereabouts are you based? I might be interested if you're not too far away?
I think you should hold-off parting with it for silly money though, and wait until you’re less distressed about the damage to assess it properly. If it’s just a few scrapes, a horncover, seat lock, mirrors and some electrics it isn’t such a big job; it ain’t just scrap and it ain’t worth just frame and engine – don’t get ripped off.
Is it all legit, and V5 in your name and matching the frame number? Can you post some photos of damage? – I bet it isn’t as bad as you think.
as a spares repair project might get upto 600 on a good day .but broken a engines 350,disc front end 150,tyres/rims 30,seat 30 , tank 30 , an frame an logbook 150, +miscellaneous small bits 100-150 maybe . but lots of hassle dealing with timewasters an postage . facebook , scooters under a grand page ,or breaking my scooter page .
