I agree Jim, I'm always open about stuff. Sadly Doug had a close friend of his that had tried a few times. He even caught him tying the noose and standing on the chair It obviously affected him and he hung himself from a tree due to a gambling problem no-one knew about. He wrote a note to me and my wife apologizing for what he'd done. Anyway need to get back on track and post something positive
Sun is shining and hopefully a bit more of the sportique jigsaw will be back together

At least you have the memories of your neighbour with his mad stories, it's these things that live on. His Clan was on a spaceframe chassis, massive webers engine tuned to the max. He used to do the hillclimbs with it but Brighton Speed Trials was his home event

Mushroom, it's something I'm passionate about, as you no doubt can tell.
today I'm mostly going to try and go in my shed and fit new lights my mate Kenny was kind enough to give me.
My steel shed's very dark as it has no windows.
Also got a new 25 metre extension cable from Aldi on Monday, Β£24.99 ,says (from memory, so may be out a bit) it can handle 1000w while coiled of 3100w uncoiled, I have a 2000w heater that trips my old extension if I put it on higher than about 3/4 , so hoping this may work!

Scooterg, I' m thinking of swapping my 200 engine into my 125 full frame and my 166 engine ( after a retune) into my cutdoon frame, after reading the potential hassle from the DVLA on here and what you posted about insurance, I' m going to have to think hard about it. If anyone has any tips or info that would help with the above, please let me know.
All the bestπ

Modifying up is simple, but trying to insure a P2 with a 125 engine in, is real hard work. You need (I think) competent mechanics build sheets, a garage with a good rep to back it, and an iron will to get through to the t**ts at Swansea on the phone! But a P2 engine into a 125 frame, quick scribble on the logbook, wait 4 weeks, sorted. Bloody madness. I hate insurance and the DVLA... Mrs works in insurance.... ππ

The problem is,,, They say it's got a different engine It's already registered on the v5 as make = vespa Douglas model = p200e Cylinder capacity (cc) 123 So registered as a 125 on the v5 So as the engines been changed (1998 scoot) most won't insure it,or want mega money Even classic insurance say no,,how many classic vehicles have the original engine,or one the same cc it came with ? Think I might just get a 200cc engine back in,,As it's cheaper π§

Mostly been looking at new movies coming out soon. One that caught my eye, was Dunkirk, so happens I have my uncles dog tags that he was wearing at that time 1940, one red, one green( red doesn't burn, green doesn't rot, I believe!) sergeant (51st Highland Division) he never made it to Dunkirk, " borrowed' a small boat near St Valery-en-Caux.That was after his name, DIDN'T get draw out the hat,to decide what Medics would stay with the wounded and become prisoners of war ( hopefully not get executed!!) He made it home, but ended up in the desert with the 51st HD, with Monty!in 1942. At some point he was asked to pick 2 men to go with him in an ambulance into the desert to pick up a downed pilot, the three of them were captured after the Italians shot up their ambulance. Later transferred to the Germans, he ended up in a German prison of war camp in Poland and near the end of the war had to do the. Forced death march back to Germany. He was a biker till the end and used to take the pish out of my scoots! He died around 1987/88. I have a few more stories about him, he was my Dads oldest Brother, my Dad being the youngest of of 10! My Dad was a miner( reserved occupation) who volunteered to do national service as an 18 year old to let the troops who had faught in the war home by taking their place ,( in his first year in the Royal Artillery he was promoted to Corporal (Bombardier the Artillery call them I think) can't ask Dad as he passed some years ago. Anyway, the scooter connection is, if I win the lottery or my old Ma, leaves me a load of cash !π΅, I think that would be my theme for a custom PX π Ride safe Jim ( Mij)

you forgot to mention being the brighton all-time champion "knobbly knees" king .i reckon thats why he wears shorts all year ,just showing off the "show-winners" . only joking mushroom, today i have mostly been trying to cheer myself up by retail therapy ,yesterday was my dads 1st anniversary ,an a good mate did a elvis too. he left the building ,permanently , an to top off my joy some numpty managed to put his phone thru the washing machine . so today i went to pub for lunch an a wake ,an suitably fortified walked into scooter shop an paid for a load of bits .tubeless rim n tyre ,AF gp crank n clutch kit an a sip order for a smallie engine i'm building for a local lad . when they picked me up an revived me i was a lot lighter , about 225 pounds lighter ,so did the only sensible thing.counted the spare change in my empty pocket, quick bit of mental maths an went back to pub an splurged the lot on a double voddy . Mostly been... Talking my Wife into buying me a pair of Aldi armoured black jeans (Β£44.99), with the help of my sweet talking mate Jon ( he hit her with " you'll want to keep his legs looking as good in a kilt as they. did at his daughter's wedding, surely?" Lol π and it worked!!! Lol.
Armoured at hip and knees and quite heavy, better than hitting the deck in a pair of Levi jeans or a pair of combats!π

Ironsloth, they had other ones @Β£39.99,they had knee armour supplied and an empty pocket to add hip armour, my wife bought those ones at first but they where too big for me, she took them back and changed them for the the better ( in my opinion ) Β£44.99 ones.π ( shhhhh, the assistant never asked for the Β£ difference! I think I got the Scottish discount, when my wife changed them π.
A wee explanation for those that don't know, when I wrote (yours without prejudice), it's legal speak for, the subject I've just wrote about can't be used against me in a legal setting, to prejudice my defence!
Allegedly! LolβΊπ

Mostly been trying to look at my mates scooters, in a garage that looks very like Henri's!π
Still never saw his gp200 (SIL), Sportique or mrk1 T5 , for all the stuff on and around them!
Managed to read the mileometer of One of the last made Px200e disc scoots he's had from new! 4367mls! But
also couldn't see the whole scoot for stuff, lol βΊ
Also got him to give me a hand putting my " O" tuned 200 engine in my full frame, the flat read valve under the carb is making the Si carb box top hit the frame, so will have to cut the rear shock extension piece to make it fit better.
Couldn't be arsed taking the piston out of the engine to weigh it, should have weighed it before and after the piston was ported for the tune, but built it a year or two ago.

Mostly been drinking coffee and trying to motivate myself to clean my shed up ( a bit,π) and shorten my back shock spacer, so my carb doesn't hit the frame. Also waiting to see if my mate Jon is well enough( he's still recovering from his cancer surgery) to give me a visit, as he says he's going to try and he lives 3mls away.

seized nuts( ooh er missis π) Funny you should say that I've been taking it easy, mainly due to my 12 year old son Zephyr twisting his right testicle. He collapsed in agony thursday night, phoned NHS helpline and they said A+E asap. Got there, checked over and operated on in less than an hour Apparently once it twists they've got 6 hours to operate or risk it dying followed by removal He saved his but he's walking like John Wayne Maybe camping in Cornwall for a few days starting tomorrow. Sportique on a back burner until after half term

bloody hell mate ,after the eye thing aswell. that kid keeps ya on your toes dont he . "walking like john wayne" after 3 days in the saddle i bet ,an borrowed a pair of ya baggiest shorts to i bet . makes my day yesterday pale into insignificance .2 hours trying to build a smallframe clutch before sussing the clutch centre was distorted an not allowing top plate down enough to get circlip in . had changed springs twice ,corks an then steels an top plate first .before trying a different centre ,afraid mushroom all those NOS clutch bits i got off you aint in there original piaggio packing anymore .ah well my devious plot to make a fortune on fleabay bites the dust . assembled engine only to discover as soon as head was on the kickstart spring was too weak to engage the pinion against any resistance .worked fine with no barrel ,soon as new rings in barrel gave resistance it was slipping .quick tantrum , then strip engine ,replace an re-assemble an relax . least it kept my mind off worrying bout today , my 50th burpday , i predict a riot an mass carnage .H
