I select gear and release clutch slowly. It's a P150x btw Scooter judders and makes a noise and lurches . After the initial pull away it drives and selects ok. Had clutch in bits and all seems ok

Seems like a nice easy problem for breakfast time. I take it the clutch is all in good enough condition otherwise? Most of your problem is down to the always forgotten, thick steel washer under the clutch. Even very slight wear here can cause the clutch to grab. You could temporarily turn the washer over (chamfer should be towards the bearing) but better to put in a new one. This is the same issue on old type clutch or Cosa.

Yeah everything all good otherwise. Will give that a try. Many thanks

Had the same problem in a car, turned out to be a bad clutch, was new just unlucky, after 8 month got round to replacing it and was smooth and judder free once again Just cause it's new doesn't mean it's perfect

Would seem like all is not as ok inside your clutch as you thought. I assume on a P150X it is a 6 spring old type clutch? If there are no notches anywhere or wobbly rivets, then the next possible is either the thin brass looking thrust washer (worn too thin or missing) or the big bronze bush between the centre and cog has too much play in it. What causes the clutch to grab is too much gap between the steel thrust washer and the clutch drive cog. As the clutch is right at the point of taking up drive the cog moves under the load and causes the clutch plates to go off square. You will never get a feeler gauge in it without the engine split but it should be about 0.3mm on a decent clutch

UPDATE- been out a couple of times on it and I find the longer you drive it the better the clutch gets. Scooter pulls away smooth .
