Hello
Wondering if anybody had rebuilt their starter, mine wasn't really working properly just took it apart and the brushes are really worn and they comma is a bit rough, is it possible to use new brushes?

yes,it is possible to re-build em , same as any starter ,the problems is getting new brushes . am guessing maybe sip or scooter centre or piaggio for them. the old dodge is to find some larger ones from another motor an file them down to size .there basically blocks of carbon an easy to file .as for the commutator , the copper strips in a circle brushes run on , a rub with fine glasspaper strip wrapped round it to clean it up .if the copper goes flush with insulator between strips this can be "undercut" with a broken off junior hacksaw blade .all filings/dust cleaned away with meths or carb cleaner . ive only ever bothered restoring a old starter when replacements are not available .H
