Zip Wax wash and wax. Half a cap full in a basin of warm water, rinse with clean water then a shammy leather to finish. Just picked up some Autosol for the shiny bits, too

I sometimes us a solvent to clean the oily exhaust dirt from back wheel then something soapy but some guys will be horrified to find I dust/polish mine more than wash it as I try not to go out in the rain!

i usually just try to clean it with some clothes and then wax it but when i took my back wheel of last night you would never of known it was a nice shiny red, it was covered in black soot, it would be hard to get clean again without at least a hose and some soapy water.

I wouldn't use a jetwash at all Doulsy for same reasons as above.I also found that that its not worth the time and effort it takes to drag the jetwash out with the big garden hose and extension chord ,get out the kinks in the hose etc. Also i wouldn't use it if i didn't have an outside tap. Ive found the easiest and less messy way is a garden hose as youre not filling and carrying four buckets of water around the house only the one with the hot water and yer turtle wash and wax or whatever.Just make sure you have the right tap fitting if youre connecting via the house. Wash off the dirt before handwashing with sponge and hot water, underneath too and stand spring area. Drying with a shammy leather makes all the difference. Afterwards a quick coat of one of those spray on fast drying waxes really brings out colour and hopefully makes the underneath that little bit more water repellant. Good luck with your thread on your engine issue,headscratcher...

Autoglym motorcycle cleaner is good for engine and rear wheel cleaning. For painted surface I use car shampoo. Tap pressure for rinsing, never power washer.
