Recently put a SIP Road 2 on my P2, running a 120 main jet. I'm thinking of putting a polini air filter kit on it soon. What do you think? I'm not looking for another 30mph.. Maybe just another 10 if I can. I don't want to kit it as its all stock accept the exhaust. Is there any cheapish mods out there? I'll say a budget around £150 or less.

i think just drilling the filter an going up to 122 main ,maybe 124 . is about all you can do inside your budget . a polini might help but unless the engine its attached to is worked on it cant really make much odds . an even basic 210cc kits are well over budget .H

Thanks Henri. If I drill the filter why would I need to upjet? I'm not sure what the main jet is actually used for really, I know it needs upjetting if the exhaust is changed. Is it so the engine is getting more fuel? My carb rubber was split so it wasn't connected and sealing the carb properly, what are your thoughts on that? I've put a new one now but does it make a difference?

If you want to keep it generally standard but just go a bit faster, you've already done half of it. For the other half of the performance and with a little money to spend I would get a real piston. The original pistons are ok but not built for performance but just for economy and to run badly forever. You can see how c**p the rings are on any P200 piston, as the black burn goes from the crown to halfway down the piston, like the rings are not there, even when the rings are new. You don't get this with any Malossi, Polini or pinasco piston; the black burn stops at the ring line. www.sip-scootershop.com/en/products/piston+grandsport+200cc+_12090000These pistons go straight in the standard iron P200 barrel. No need to re-bore if its not so old, just rub it over with some 600 grit. Fit five base gaskets and keep the standard head. Upjet to about 125. Should be another 5mph faster than it is already.
