Hi all, just joined the Vespa world after a plea to keep my late brother in laws PX 125 T5 in the family.
Based in Sheffield and having never owned a scooter before, I am currently doing up my dad's (now mine) 1992 Royal Enfield Bullet 500cc that has been stood for 13 years. Well say I am, he is but I am watching, learning and funding!
I have a bit of TLC to give the Vespa, it currently won't start (although it did last week when I picked it up from Shrewsbury in a van) despite a fuel and oil top up, and the back brake pedal sticks on, any thoughts / tips?
Also any recommendations for a decent minded and priced Vespa garage in Sheffield more than welcome as I think I may have to wheel it to one
Looking forward to taking the Vespa for a spin.

hi n welcome , it not starting could be many things .youve not learnt the knack of it for 1 . not turning fuel on , choke? . how longs it stood before you got it .as moving it might of stirred some crap in the fuel an blocked the pilot jet in carb . the brake pedals a easier one,if ya look underneath you'll see the brake block the pedal pivots in .pedal pivots on a steel pin held in this an they get gunged up .a big blast of wd40 an moving the pedal lots usually free's em up .but once they get stiff i find it only a temporary fix .eventually you will need to drop the brake block out an drive the pin out ,clean it up an replace with copper grease . Brake pedal eased massively and now feels ok and not sticking at all.
No luck with it starting though, looks like the AA will need to be called, just hope I haven't missed something so simple though!

Thanks all. Quick update, I got the Vespa going, it was nothing major, my son had pulled the rear brake light pod off and not put the wires back on!

Hi pal - whereabouts in Sheffield are you? I am a fellow Vespa rider from Steel City. Got a Vespa P125X Mark One from 1981 and a small frame project PK from 1988. Might meet you out and about..

Hi Darren, am in Greystones, not far from The Greystones pub, my PX is white and I have been pottering about on it quite a bit recently. Had it serviced by Armandos, engine still feels a bit lumpy but to be honest I have no idea how it should sound / feel!
Tackled the island at the bottom of Eccie Rd / Hanover Way at 7.45am this morning for the first time too.....that was an experience....

Hi mate - that roundabout...I got rear end shunted a couple of weeks ago on there, luckily in car and not on scoot. Been off work since, car a write-off. But in Summer I commute to work that way and it never gets better. I use Tony at On 2 Wheels for my minor issues ...found Armandos good but expensive and more Lammy orientated really... will meet out and about over Summer. As for now I am nowhere near getting any of the scoots off the stand, let alone kicking them up...
