Hi all
Just joined up I am looking to get my first scooter and this seems like a great place to start to get some advice. I am looking to get a vintage scooter but not really sure what models would be best to where even to look for them for sale or before that more information on different models etc? I appreciate any advice or directions I could be pointed in
Regards
Richard

were in the country are ya ,an how competent a mechanic are ya , as further from london cheaper scoots can be got ,an older scoots need maintenance , as for best places to look ,were other scooterists will sell ,local scoot shop for sale boards ,scooter clubs , facebook pages/owners clubs for the model you fancy , an here n other good forums , scoots break down into 2 main groups ,large frames n smallframes , with older vintage 1's called wide-mounts but there much more expensive, what kind of licence do you hold ,as most smallframes are registered at 125cc n smaller an can be ridden on l plates .a lot of later larges are regged as 125 but actually bigger cc . basically a wide-mount will start at 2000 for a project or 5-6000 restored ,a large frame 500 project to 2-3000 restored ,small frame 400 project 1200-2000 restored , depending on model. later p series can be got for 8-900 running an 1500-1600 really tidy . tho the near identical lml an baja clones can be had for half that money . ive a moto-vespa 125 super i'm mot-ing tommorrow an then registering ,i'm expecting 1600 for it , an as soon as the reg numbers back on my 62 douglas sportiques i'll mot that n expect the same for it . but i do it as a hobby ,others who its there business will ask more . Thanks for the reply I am based in Essex so a bit close to London. Not got much mechanically experience but I have family that do who I can go to. I definitely don't want to total restoration project something I can ride and work on and learn more and then maybe move on if that makes sense. I have a full UK motorbike license so no issues there
