Hi guys, I need some advise. I recently changed the exhaust on my px125 for a SIP exhaust (recommended by a friend). It has made the bike much faster & enjoyabke to ride. However I have had neighbours complaining about the noise. One guy has said he is going to the police because I am waking up his son every morning going to work. He claims that it is against the law (the mod to my bike&noise level).
Is there anything I can do to reduce the noise? I could always put the old exhaust back on but would rather keep the SIP on & lower the noise level.
Any advice would be appreciated.

You could do what my son does with his street cub.....Pushes it about 300yds around the corner , then kicks it up ......people around the corner might not be happy , but immediate neighbours havn't got a problem

its what i use to do with my yam rd400 , with race pipes on , tho 50% of the time it was a "bump start" needed anyway , am guessing wrapping in exhaust wrap would lower the tone a bit ,less tinny , but would alter the power characteristics of the pipe . how big is the neighbor,as you could always point out your doing him a favour waking up his lazy son for skool or work, an saving him money on a alarm clock ,if that dont make him see reason remove exhaust n "silence" him with it ,permanently, H

Thanks for the replies but I really want to get this sorted. The neighbours son is a baby and he's the forth neighbour to have a word. Now my mrs has told me to sort it. I've seen on the SIP website that they do a similar exhaust with a silencer on it. Which is an option. I have checked to see if there is anything obvious but can't see anything. Basically its just way too loud.

oops ,4th neighbor an a baby ,ya need to sort it eh , check the sip listing an make sure it doesnt say "for race use only" ,then it will be E marked an street legal in this country , stick ya old one on e bay or for sale here , an til then do as mickymidas suggests an have a bracing push every morning an coast home at night . good relations with neighbours is nice n 1 thing ,but when management says "sort it" you know she's thinking but not saying "or else", time to act methinks, H

Which exhaust do you have exactly? The sip performance by any chance? Which i think should have a muffler on it! Available seperately. No wonder its loud!!?

I don't think the exhaust itself is the issue, more the noise it makes. They are loud regardless to a baby next door. I used to cut my engine and push when I hit close to home when my youngest was 1st born and I knew he was in bed.

I didn't notice that much of a noise increase going from my cat exhaust to the SIP. And I think it's still quieter than my sitoplus

I'm pretty sure its the SIP Racing 2.0 exhaust in crome. A friend who has four vespas & has put them on his scoots says the noise is fine. But in my opinon its just abit too loud. I have still got the original exhaust so I'm going to refit that.
