Im new to the site, I am just getting back into me scooter thing again since I owned two in 80 -81, I used to have a PX 200 and a very nice SS, which I found out the other day is still on the road!
I have just bought a cream and burgundy 1961 Vespa VBB Douglas, which was running fine until last week, but now when I kick start her she will not tick over, as soon as you let go of the throttle she dies, but if I pull out the choke she will start and tick over fine, but as soon as you put the choke back in she dies, I have taken the jets out and cleaned them but still got the same problem. Also If I try and turn the idle screw this does nothing, so I screw I screwed it completely down so that the throttle could not move and then slowly started to turn the idle screw until it released the throttle so that I knew it was opened.
I was thinking about taking the carb off and clean it and put it back together again. Also I have noticed that at the back of the mixture screw there seems to be a little oil or petrol that as run down the side of the casing near the mixture screw.
Any ideas Peeps?
Cheers
Dan
