Greetings. Would like to convert my scoot to a 12V system. Could someone advise me as to what all I will need to make the switch? It's a 69 Sprint 150cc. *Also, what are the pros & cons of going from 6 to 12?
thx much....

hi n welcome to the forum, you can just change the coils on stator or stator itself to go 12volt ,also needed will be new bulbs , brake light switch n lighting switch on bars , an changes to loom or new loom , but if going 12volt ya might aswell upgrade to electronic ignition , less maintenance ,no more dodgy ht coils/condenser failures , a small taper pk flywheel ,px stator plate ,cdi n reg box an easiest to change loom than re-work it. beedspeed do a kit for about £150 i think ,or e bay indian ones around £100 ,but ya have to be careful on the quality off em , H

Thanx Fella's. I appreciate your time. I'm not "Mr. Mechanic guy" so hopefully this is not going to torture me too much..lol. Here's the deal; I had some recent motor work done and the batt was bad, so he put a new one in. Well I observed it later and saw that it was a 12volt battery. Now I'm thinking "oh man was this even a 6volt syst to begin with". I haven't had the scooter very long, so I'm still trying to figure it all out. If I fact it is a 6volt set-up, could it even still run? Other than frying the horn, is there any issues?
@gazpx what is "cdi"?

the horn will still work on 12volt ok , an a cdi is a "captive discharge ignition" unit , just a name for the bit of electronic ignition system that replaces the HT coil on ya points system , the box with lead coming from it that has spark plug on end in layman terms , everybody calls em CDI's , H
