Hi,
I have just received a 05 throttle slide for a T5 SI 24.24 G Carb from SIP.
It won't insert fully into the carb. It goes in in about 2cm then gets stuck.
Should a new slide need to be filed down or is it faulty?
Cheers,
Ben

Does the old slide do the same or is it an easy fit, never normally need any work to make them fit. sounds like youve over tightend the carb and its warped it slightly

as above ,or its "bad out the box" , rare for sip but it does happen , if you look down the carb is there any signs of wear or a burr , i wouldnt advise filling/sanding the slide to fit as it would probably be leaky an make carb impossible to set up correctly , H

The old slide was 'sticky' (which is why I wanted to replace it as I thought it was warped) but still allowed the carb to work.
There are no signs of wear or burr's.
Is there a fix for a warped carb?

Yes. Theres a way! I ve been doing it last weekend
The carb body is very likely warped Dont touch the slide
I used a marker pen on the slide to determine where it was sticking.. Again, this will be very likely in the same place as the main bolt hole. I used a very small tool/ file, wrapped in wet n dry and patiently sanded it smooth. It took a few hours! The slide should slide freely (without exception)! when inserted and tilted back n forth. Or spend £50 on a new one!
Youll also need to 'lap' the base of the carb to ensure its totally flat. Then do a dance

as above ,with the proviso its done very carefully ,a little at a time ,checking with slide after every go, an the celebration dance includes moonwalking/crotch grabbing an high pitched yelps ,H
