Thanks For the info gents, a lot to take on board there. I take your point Sime regards the 'half jobs!' Logical steps would be ideal as you say, unfortunately I tend to fall into a trap of getting so far along then get stuck, needing a special tool or part so then move on to something else whilst waiting or part hunting! (Bad practice I know!) Regards the photos I still can't upload any even from my mac as it keeps saying file too big for site! I got them into photo bucket but must be doing something wrong that I can't work out! I've taken a leaf from your book and snapped all the parts and steps (any advice?).[ ] Henri. Thanks , I've sent my address details etc via paypal tonight to you.

ive dug out 2 head gasket coppers , i looks slightly bent from storage anothers in perfect nick, will pack em n post first thing in morn ok , for future reference ,copper gaskets can be re-annealed n re-used in emergencys , get em red hot in a gas flame/bonfire an then plunge into cold water ,swishing them around to get bubbles off . thats saved me a bit of hassle at side of the road before ,had a bsa that use to blow gaskets regularly. Got them today H, put them with all the rest of the stuff ordered recently. Carb gasket set, head and base gaskets, wiring junction box, woodruff key. Piston rings are the only things holding up progress! Hopefully I'll find the time at the weekend!
Thanks again Ronnie

Result! I'm finally back up and running just the timing to set with my degree disc (in post) and strobe gun and then to learn the art of chopping..... I found a few things wrong in my search for answers to my problems they included; 1. Crap carb!, I fitted a Dellorto 20/20 with new gaskets and seals and new float needle in place of crap original. 2. Two wires on the stator had dry joints (black earth and white pickup?) both resoldered. Multi Meter readings now spot on. 3. Woodruff key was non existent on flywheel shaft. Replaced. 4. Piston rings, replaced with quality new items from SIP. Bore honed, ring end gaps checked. 5. New head gasket set and exhaust chemically cleaned. 6. New petrol tap fitted as old one rotten! And was permanently on reserve! No matter where the tap pointed.
A lot learnt, the most important is methodically check one item at a time! (Thanks Sime66) as I'm not sure what stage actually fixed it! Thanks everyone who gave advice And tips, priceless! Also does anyone know how many degrees to set my timing to? LML150cc 3port engine approx 2006 model. Thanks Ronnie
