I think ive found the perfect solution to the problem i dont really have! Hahahz!
I cant believe it...
Again, at work yesterday........i was working inside a customers shed....and what was in this shed??!!??
Covered in dust and cobwebs was an old P200!!! (Shame it werent an ol ACMA)!
But still! Holy moly! I cant believe my luck!
5500 original miles on the clock
All the owner could remember was it has a kit and a flowed crank. And its a P200 reg'd as 125.
Thats all i had to go on, except i noticed it has indicators, no autolube, hoping it wasnt reed valve.
I couldnt get at it to have a closer look.
Made an offer. (Less than my other recent purchase) and picked it up this afternoon!
Im very happy, as ive been pulling it to pieces (its definitely a non runner btw, thats why a full strip.... I soon found out, the clutch seal was put in back to front)!
Heres what ive found....
It has a 30mm PBHB dellorto
Old style ali Pinasco 213cc kit with single ring piston - which is very interesting!!!!
I thought id see how it was set up before tearing it to pieces
Edit..Crank timings - 124°/4°
Ive measured everything
57mm crank.
1.7mm Deck Height
and worked out if i use this cylinder in my Rally, with my later Asso piston and a 0.5mm base packer, 60mm crank, 0.5mm DH i would get....
123.6° trans (37.3mm)
169.81° Exhaust (48mm)
23.1° BD
Im happy with that, its close enough not to tinker with !
And with the virtually new P200 with no autolube cases they're a perfect swap for my battered pair in my Rally
With this new cylinder, CR with a 31.5cc head, which i already have , ready to go, lapped and tapped, with the cht tapped into the head*, so ratios would be 10..35CR, 6.74CCR. Im happy with that too!
*(this time with the 4.28mm thread Cht sensor - i tapped a 4mm hole, (which is too small), then started off with a 5mm tap with the correct/ same thead pitch as the sip/Koso sensor, then i got an already broken koso sensor and used that as a tap to continue tapping the hole. Perfect! Almost! Good enough!
The sensor is tight enough and hopefully can still be unscrewed too! (My other one was tapped to M5 and is stuck in with loctite)
Exhaust is a right hander, i forgot to look closely tbh and put it aside,,looks like a Polini type
Flowed 57mm crank 124°/20°... Ill need to check that figure again!
Edit yes wrong! It should read 124°/4°
7 spring clutch
Original flywheel but also came with an another lighter old skool Pinasco flywheel
Came with the original si24 and carb box too
And also the original cylinder and piston head too
I also noticed, that this has the rounded gear selector pawl/batwing, so i was expecting/hoping to see a late style gearbox inside, but alas, no, when i saw the hub nut, it was the old style castle nut. Which i had to drill a hole through it to get it off! This means it has the early type gearbox. But i guess an '82/83 reg is too early?
Here it is, 80s style:
Ive already got a plan..the Rally is getting new cases, a new-ish/slightly different cylinder with better transfer timing and possibly another crank...otherwise, the same as it is now and ride the hell out of it.
Im going to fit a 125 engine to the other PX i have as its a 125 chassis anyway (the one with the malossi and pm evo) ride it and sell it.
and then put the malossi with phbh carb, pm evo, in the p200, ride it and sell it
And ride my Rally some more
This should just about leave me with a spare pinasco engine!!! Sell! Sell! Sell!!
Ive a busy weekend ahead!!
I hope to dyno my new engine this weekend if i get the chance.
Busy Bunny
Question... This cylinder has been using the 1 x ring piston....
If i put in a newer style pinasco piston, with Dyke's ring, along with a long stroker, do you think it would cause a problem with the rings when the piston reaches TDC.
(Theres not many miles on the kit as yet).
The later piston lines up with the ports in the older cylinder, just as bad as they do in the newer cylinder!
Any thoughts?
