So I got my new ignition lock bits to replace this weekend but I need to replace the steering lock latch. Do I have to drop the forks completely or will removing the top head bearing give me enough room to swap it.

whats the frame , a smallie/super/sprint/rally no, a px no , a vbb type latch you need to drop forks an remove the bottom bearing race an wiggle the new lock in from bottom an haul it up by a bit of string , if you mean a px frame an its the block that fits between lock an plastic switch behind horncast you do need to drop forks to swap that, H

It's a 2012 px H. Ok I was hoping to make enough room by just removing top fork bearing. Never mind I've also got a new speedo and clutch cable to fit so My pre MOT repair session will just have to be extended a bit.

No I meant the little metal block between the barrel and the black switch. I dropped the forks this morning and sorted it. What a pain the speedo cable inner was, where it snapped it frayed and turned into a little birds nest of rusty wire, took Nearly an hour to unblock the outer before the new inner would go in.

That pulls out backwards with long nose pliers no need for fork drop
