Looking for help...
I recently bought an '88 mk1 T5 and it failed it's MOT at the weekend due to steering stop issues....As I'm new to scootering I'm unsure if there should be a separate steering stop or is it a case of getting the hammer out & carefully being creative with the down tube ? Any help/advice would be appreciated....
Cheers, Jimmi

the stop is on the fork leg and makes contact with the frame down near the lower steering bearing race, frame may be bent out of shape there or if you are unlucky a piece snapped off the fork. Take the plastic horn cover off and take a look you may be able to see what has happened.

Thanks for the quick response AF....Had the horn cover/mudguard (it's one complete unit on my T5) off last night and fork looks fine and as far as I can see the issue is with the bottom of the frame where it engages with fork and should stop - What I wasn't sure of, was if it should have a separate piece all together that would fit into that space but sounds like this isn't the case...Also, looks like someone's been at it before with the good old hammer - Maybe dropped it or something in the past - Thanks again for your feedback...
Cheers, Jimmi

As far as I remember, its an integral part of the frame, if its been bent a bit, probably a good chance you can get it back into shape without having to get the welder out

I think the same. Im sure you could be creative with a small hammer and a punch/old screwdriver to gently presuade the chassis part back into place.
