In short no cbt is to prove you can ride and have road sense you can watch people doing it online so you know what's involved but if you Can't ride you won't pass

I’ll chip in here, just to add to it:
This first bits for you doulsy - CBT is not a test: The only reasons you could really come away without your CBT Certificate on the day are if your clothing or motorcycle were unfit, or if you failed the eyesight test, or if you were really poor (unsafe) to ride, in which case you’d have to have longer ‘Training’; it isn’t a test, it is Compulsory Basic Training, not Test. The instructor will ask you what you already know, but basically tell you everything you need to know – he works through the whole file whether you know it beforehand or not. You shouldn't do your CBT on an auto if you intend to ride a geared scooter/motorcycle.
The bulk of the Highway Code is covered by the Theory part of the full licence, the only other Highway code-type stuff is to do with vehicle safety at the start of Mod 2 test, where obviously you will also be demonstrating your understanding of highway code anyway.
I’m doing my Mod 1 & 2, ‘A’, Direct Access, Unrestricted Licence now, and that is my understanding of it.
There are loads of very useful videos on Youtube for CBT, Theory (including Hazard Perception), Mod 1, and Mod 2. – it all helps to know what’s expected at each stage and prepare.
· Your CBT lasts for two years, you can’t do any other tests without a CBT. If you’re happy to continue with CBT, then the law at present requires you to do it every two years. · Your Theory lasts for two years, you can’t do it without a valid CBT. · You can’t do Mod 1 without a current CBT and Theory pass. · Your Mod 1 pass is valid for six months, you can’t do Mod 2 without current CBT, Theory and Mod 1 pass.
It’s ridiculously complicated and ridiculously expensive, if you got one years ago then good on ya because doing it now is a b*st**d.

Great post sime, thanks for the detailed reply, i was told by bikerite that doing a cbt on an auto will allow me to drive a geared bike, i cant ptactice on it without my cbt, im sure it will all come back to me after riding my p200 for a day(125 cc btw) i was going to sit it on my own bike but i would have to get it transported to an industrial estate to practice.

as sime says , but with 1 proviso ,on the missus's cbt day there was a lad who wouldnt listen an kept making the same dangerous mistakes , they refused to issue him a cbt as he hadnt completed the training . you can make a mistake 1 an be corrected ,but keep not learning an repeating an they will fail ya , for your own safety . CBT completed today, trying to sort out insurance now but dvla messing me about saying they never received my log book for engine change until i mentioned i sent it recorded, most insures wont touch it because of engine change, some won't start policy till the dvla confirm the 125 engine.
