I've fitted a brand new wiring loom to my 78 p200e and can't remember how the wiring goes on headlight. I've got the horn, indicators, dipped and main beam working plus rear brake light but no sidelight and taillight. Has anyone got a picture of headlight holder or any ideas. Thanks

From memory...
Black goes to the connector that joins everything together.
Pink and purple go to the headlight (can't remember which way round) and the other - brown? - goes to side light.
I think that's right, but I've not done one in a bit

Ok thanks, I've read your thread and we seem to be having the same problem fitting this wiring loom. I have know idea how to upload a picture so I'll make some notes and write it out. Have you sorted out the 2 missing earth wires ?

Have you sorted out the 2 missing earth wires ? been told i shouldnt need those two earths but im gonna put an earth on the frame, have a look at these, but something must be wrong because none of my lights work, im thinking its down to the yellow wire because as soon as i put it on the regulater my voltage drops.

That looks wrong to me. The ignition switch only needs a green from the cdi and a black to earth. Nothing else.

an the connecters on the "idiot lights" look like they might be touching/rubbing together ,that wouldnt give the voltage drop your experiencing but would stop lights illuminating , might just be camera angle tho. diconnect all bulbs/switches on the yellow circuit ,if voltage still drops its a wiring fault ,if not 1 by 1 re-introduce bulbs/switches til drop re-occurs an the last change will tell you where problem is , i had similar on my v100 , after changing brake light switch all lights/horn gone , dropped brake block n switch metered ok ,til i checked supply contact to earth an found a short , 1 of the tags had a sharp/high corner an as i'd tightened it down it had cut through the rubber gasket n shorted , not sayin yours is same tho, an as sbwnik says switch only has black n green on it ,unless its american spec with a battery run parking lights n horn , H

I plan on doing what you said henri, idiot light? These the warning lamps? They are real bad quality, got them from beedspeed.

I've just had a look at your pictures, the headlight holder wires are fine but there's an earth missing of the ignition switch, there should be two, one goes on the connection below the green wire. I can see you've got one on but i can see the end of the other it seems to be hidden by the speedo.

I can see you've got one on but i can see the end of the other it seems to be hidden by the speedo. it connects to a double earth, one goes to speedo and the other to hi beam warning lamp, speedo lights are working, will need to wait on new bulb holder to find out if the warning lamp is working. pretty sure there was only one earth on the ignition but im a newb at this.

Turn the ignition to the 'off' position. Look at the switch. The two connections that are touching are the ones that need wiring as black to green. If two of the connectors are larger than the others, these are the ones.
